Saudi Arabia 'to execute more than 50 convicted of terrorism'

Source: BBC

The newspaper Okaz said 55 people were awaiting execution for "terrorist crimes", while a now-deleted report by al-Riyadh said 52 would die soon.

They are thought to include Shia who took part in anti-government protests.

Amnesty said that given the spike in executions this year, it had no option but to take the reports very seriously.

The group believes at least 151 people have been put to death in Saudi Arabia so far this year - the highest recorded figure since 1995.

I can just see it:

"Ali, the satanic American press is about to detail how heavily our government funds Islamic State and Al Qaeda. Not even the Americans are stupid enough not to realize you can make plastic out of coal. What are we going to do?"

"Mahmoud, it's very simple. Go to our jails. Get fifty to sixty people who are in for relatively minor offenses, torture them for a few days, claim they confessed to terrorist crimes, and schedule them for beheading. Then we can prove to the world how seriously we take terrorism."

(the phone rings...)

"Alim? How good to hear from you. What's that you say? You're the new number two man of Al Qaeda? Congratulations! I knew you'd go far. What's that you say? No dammit, we are supposed to be hard on you fucking terrorists. You'll have to wait until we behead the 55 people we are charging with terrorist crimes before we can send you the $20 million you need. Call back Friday afternoon."

Because the critics are right. Saudi Arabia can accurately be described as an ISIS that made it. They're that fucking barbaric.

It would have been a good thing -- for the world -- if Saudi Arabia had executed Osama Bin Laden 20 years ago. And as many of his lieutenants as it could catch. And the fifteen 9/11 hijackers who were Saudi citizens.

Maybe the regime here is just murdering its opponents, but there ARE a lot of Saudi terrorists.

True. The difference is that the Saudi regime actively supports & funds most
of the Saudi terrorists, it doesn't execute them.

The only "terrorists" to be killed by Saudi authorities are the dissidents in
their own country: the poets, the journalists, the human rights activists and
anyone who dares to speak to truth about that corrupt, greedy, misogynistic
collection of inbred dictators who run the region.
