Anti-Abortion Groups Condemn Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood Attack

Source: Huffington Post

David Daleiden, the head of the Center for Medical Progress, the group that released controversial and heavily edited videos of Planned Parenthood employees earlier this year, said that he did not support violence against the organization.

“The Center for Medical Progress condemns the barbaric killing spree in Colorado Springs by a violent madman. We applaud the heroic efforts of law enforcement to stop the violence quickly and rescue the victims, and our thoughts and prayers are with the wounded, the lost, and their families," he said in a statement.

Jim Daly, the president of Focus on the Family, a conservative Christian group in Colorado Springs, said the shooting was "deplorable."

“Today’s violence at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood facility, just miles from our ministry headquarters, is tragic and deplorable. It is to be condemned," he said in a statement. “Our hearts break for the families of the three individuals killed, a University of Colorado police officer and two civilians. As a community, we share in their sorrow and in their grief."

The poster is too kind; they are in CYA mode so that they won't be accused of what they in fact have done: incited violence against PP and their patients. I will take this expression of sorrow seriously when they stop harassing the staff and patients, stop demonizing PP doctors as baby-killers, and stop treating women as second-class citizens whose rights, privacy, safety and dignity do not count. Until then, I don't want to hear about their crocodile tears. Basta!

at least they haven't apologized for it, as some people try to apologize for Islamic terrorism.

And I wrote that to pre-empt people trying to put these two problems on the same global problem plane.

Now that I preempted that, the anti-choice groups do need to apologize for the lies about PP and the video.

If you're right and it is too early to confirm, fairly typical. Get a depressed angry failure to do your dirty work, then throw him to the wolves and "we know nothing".

PP is one of the few fire walls left that protects women. Destroy that and it's one step closer to controlling women. Control women and you control society.

...edits it so it means the opposite of what actually was said, spreads it out into wingnutistan in order to inflame - no other reason - and condemns that which is, these days, a logical outcome. A candidate for the highest office in this country uses this "opposite of truth" video to lie and go up a few points in the polls. Looking at you, Ms Fiorina! And this is the norm. Think the 2012 "You Didn't Build That" GOP convention.

When you dehumanize people with a wink-wink-nudge-nudge that no one should use violence, because that would be wroooonnnnnnng you're just as responsible as the guy that finally takes your hint and shoots up/bombs a place.

If this guy was a dark skinned Muslim, no one would take seriously for a second the argument that the cleric that told him westerners are monsters that must be stopped was totally in the clear. Yet the same claim gets trotted out every time someone slaughters their way through/bombs an abortion clinic or shoots a doctor.

They don't have a conscience. They just don't want their cause to be linked with violent extremists any further than it already is.

I was a PP escort in the mid 70's but, luckily, the local police made the anti-choice bigots stay across the street because they had started to get aggressive. My favorite was escorting a VERY pregnant young lady who was merely going in for a pre-natal exam and the religious nuts screaming, "Don't kill your baby!"

Remember the bombing of the NAACP office back in January? Yep, that was here too.

This is also the home of the Colorado Springs Gazette. The nastiest, most hate-filled 'newspaper' in America. Now owned by billionaire Phil Anschutz - AKA the third Koch brother. Many editorials kindly provided by AFP.

All those business jets coming & going every day are carrying the leaders of right wing and religionist groups. Endless meetings and team talks to get them all 'on message'.

Oh yeah, and Michelle Malkin lives in Cedar Heights, to the west of the city. I kid you not.

Wish I could afford to move somewhere civilised. This place wears me out.
