'Daily News' provokes with cover on Calif. shooting: 'God isn't fixing this'

Source: USA Today

The front cover of New York's Daily News for Thursday takes a strong stance against how some politicians are reacting to the San Bernardino shooting with calls for prayer instead of tighter gun control laws.

The headline says, "God Isn't Fixing This."

.......... House Speaker Paul Ryan and GOP presidential hopefuls Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham all responded with "prayers" for the victims of San Bernardino.

......... Meanwhile, Democratic presidential hopefuls, including Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, took a different tone and called for "action" to stop gun violence.

Another mass shooting, we can't blame religion, terrorism or workplace violence.
This is another all too common occurrence of extreme violence exacerbated by the easy access to firearms and ammunition. If we can't regulate the actual firearms we need to go after the ammunition. Tax it, regulate it, require massive burdens of insurance and compliance at the federal state and local level. We need to make possessing ammunition costly and time consuming, we need to make it not worth the effort. If we regulate the bullets eventually we could control the guns, no bullets and the gun is worthless. We could make the possession of untaxed and unregistered bullets a felony carrying lengthy prison sentences, manufacturing ammunition even longer with life for repeat offenders. I know this sounds draconian but we need serious solutions.

All misconduct settlements paid out from police union coffers instead of taxpayers.

But my thoughts about ammunition are one way to regulate firearms without gun confiscation. We need to make ammunition so costly and difficult to obtain and possess that the mere act of firing a gun becomes close to impossible.

Another so sad headline

I never thought I would see a day when anyone was harangued for offering prayer for the victims of a tragedy. ...

How arrogant. In their rebuke of Republicans’ call to prayer they actually judge God incompetent. ... The problem is not with guns. The problem is with sinful humanity. God is the only One who can fix a sinful human heart....

Sick and tired of people -- especially those who are in positions of power -- offering prayers instead of constructive action.
