Lindsey Graham: 'Tell Donald Trump to go to hell'

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Spazito (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: CNN

Sen. Lindsey Graham said it's time for Republicans to rebuke presidential hopeful Donald Trump, urging his party to tell Trump to "go to hell."

"You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell," Graham said on CNN's "New Day" on Tuesday, picking up on the GOP front-runner's famous slogan, "make America great again."

The South Carolina Republican was responding to Trump's statement released Monday calling for the U.S. to ban all Muslims from entering the country.

"He's a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot," Graham told Alisyn Camerota. "He doesn't represent my party. He doesn't represents the values that the men and women who wear the uniform are fighting for. ... He's the ISIL man of the year."

Just the same, you go, Lindsey, start cracking that eggshell of a party of yours.

dog-whistling to for 50 years. But at least now some Republicans are acting shocked at what they themselves have created -- a monster. A real monster. One that has the capability of taking down a once-great country.

We'll see if the few remaining sane Pubs have the clout to stop the crazies. I have my doubts.

I am a realist and for years been talking about the GOP and their dishonesty and bigotry sooner or later going to come home and roost. The result is Trump. Trump is their Frankentein. Arise Donald arise and show everyone how friggin far down the path on no return that the GOP has traveled.

Oh and I hope Lindsey comes out of the closet after all these years running from his shadow, the prissy old lady archetype

I noticed one time when Trump referred to Graham that Trumps voice went into a higher register and his wrist went limp. And, he made some hints about how McCain and Trump are "oddly" always together.
After these comments from Graham, The Donald won't be able to resist taking much more specific shots at Graham's rumored homosexuality. Just watch.

Where's my popcorn????

The only thing good about this is the Republican Party is having a reckoning with the extremists that are now their base.

These people are so frightened that full on Nazi Germany is not out of the question, they would start rounding Muslims up into cattle cars and shipping them off to extermination camps. There are good Republicans, they now have a clear choice.

You can't just look at what they are saying today, can you imagine if ISIS is able to launch a significant and severe terrorist attack here, these people are coming unhinged and it's only going to get worse. ISIS is counting on the cowardice of the Republican base to fuel a full on war.

Trump is just a small hateful man.
The problem are the supporters who
cheer on his racist flamebait. I dare
Lindsey Graham (or any politician for
that matter) to tell that mob to go to hell.

It's sad that the Republican Party has come to this. It really is.

Even sadder is that this walking afterbirth continues to lead in the right-wing polls.

Saddest of all is that people who support him have been fueled by 20ish years of right-wing extremism disguised as legitimate news.

I STILL think the Fairness Doctrine needs to be reinstated. What's happening now is the long term result of its demise. I truly believe that.

the Fairness Doctrine. That needs to be revived as of years ago.

All the seemingly small nips and tucks at social rights and decorum in politics have resulted in what we witness now. It appears to be a contest to the lowest common denominator in disrespect.

. . . for example, his extremely weak record on civil liberties and his war mongering for conflicts with the unspoken goal of expropriating the natural resources of a half-dozen Middle Eastern nations, he's spot on opposing a demagogue who sends his followers out to kick and beat those who protest his candidacy.

At least Senator Graham recognizes fascism in Donald Trump, though not in himself.

Hahahaha that's right little Rabbit.. run. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

It will be nice to finally have the landslide election that ENDS the age of Reagan in this country, and puts sane adults back in control of a Functional and Useful Government; and with it the delusion that these people carry around with them that they are actually the Majority. They apparently need their kids to teach them a very painful political lesson.
I won't have any sympathy for them, they did it to themselves.
