ACLU Board Member Resigns After Urging People To Kill Supporters Of Trump

Source: CBS-TV Denver

A board member for the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado has resigned after urging people to kill supporters of presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Loring Wirbel’s Facebook post was captured by The Daily Caller – a right-leaning online newspaper.

The post states, “The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for Trump and say, ‘This is Goebbels. This is the final solution. If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before Election Day.’ They’re not going to listen to reason, so when justice is gone, there’s always force…”

It’s the second threat against Republicans in Colorado in one week.

Fern Delise, 54, of Fountain was arrested after police say she called Planned Parenthood saying, “It’s tempting to walk into a republican party meeting with my dead husband’s gun and just start shooting people.”

ACLU board member resigns after Facebook post about shooting people who would vote for Trump

Loring Wirbel has resigned as co-chair of the Colorado Springs chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado after facing mounting criticism for a Facebook post that said people voting for Donald Trump should be told "I will have to shoot you before election day."

Wirbel told The Gazette Thursday night that the post wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

"It was intended totally as a joke," Wirbel said. "They are taking that stuff out of context. It's smear politics."

However, Wirbel said he could see how the post was offensive.

Threatening. As are the same kind of statements made by RWNJ's (2nd Amendment Solution, etc.). But Wirbel was not exhorting his followers to "Get him out of here!". It seems he was being ironic but no one cares for irony because you are all too scared to be able to think clearly anymore. AmeriKKKa, the terrorized and the terrified. GOTV!

deadly seriously. In these crazy times our jokes become their provocations. We just have to be better than them.

Isn't it funny how the gop candidates say all these lies about planned parenthood, a guy goes out and kills people and none of them apologize and stay silent, but this person speaks their mind and gets arrested, wtf

Plus, dry humor in print doesn't always work even with your close friends. Always put a smiley face in when in doubt.

What's nor appropriate is the rabid 5 minutes of "news" time the poor, threatened Colorado GOP chairman got to whine about the ACLU, what he called a "good organization " but implied otherwise.
I'm sure over the next few days we'll hear plenty of rancorous coverage of the threats from the ACLU, while the terrorist who shot up Planned Parenthood is just some poor mentally ill American suffering under Obamacare.

Dumb to threaten people, even if it's a joke. It could ganvanize the GOP.

He should have known better since he worked with the ACLU. He didn't call out to kill T-Rump supporters without telling them first. This is NOTHING compared to what Repukes have said about Obama.

Not much to say. Don't talk about violent retaliation on social media. You might get in trouble.
