Czech leader calls migrant wave in Europe an 'organised invasion'
Source: AFP
Prague (AFP) - Czech President Milos Zeman, known for his anti-migrant comments, on Saturday called the current wave of refugees to Europe "an organised invasion", and that young men from Syria and Iraq should instead "take up arms" against the Islamic State (IS) group.
"I am profoundly convinced that we are facing an organised invasion and not a spontaneous movement of refugees," said Zeman in his Christmas message to the Czech Republic released Saturday.
He went on to say that compassion was "possible" for refugees who are old or sick and for children, but not for young men who in his view should be back home fighting against jihadists.
"A large majority of the illegal migrants are young men in good health, and single. I wonder why these men are not taking up arms to go fight for the freedom of their countries against the Islamic State," said Zeman, who was elected Czech president in early 2013.

A man of such keen perception ought to be able to sort them out real fast, though.

(50,986 posts)with Jeb! Bush and get him over there right away.
Jeb says you can tell "by looking at them" which refugees are Christians.
So I'm sure he could tell which ones were organized and which were not.
Could save President Zeman a lot of paperwork...
Plus, immediately after the New Hampshire primary, I think Jeb! will suddenly find he has quite a bit of free time on his hands.

(11,841 posts)Regardless of where it is. The system in place, regardless of the type of system, cannot take the shock of such an increase. Ignoring that fact just because you feel sorry for them is dangerous.
And we'll see as this coming year or two how it plays out

(12,691 posts)I'm wondering why the media has been largely silent on why other Arab speaking countries haven't taken in more refugees. It would be a lot easier to assimilate when they already speak the same language and have pretty much the same values.

(2,841 posts)if I was a refugee fleeing from jihadists , the last place I'd want to go is a monarchy that (more than likely) funded the jihadists in the first place.

(768 posts)and you mean apart from Jordan, Egypt Lebanon and Iraq which are hosting 2.1 million Syrian refugees. The media hasn't been silent about the Gulf states' reluctance to host refugees, at least not the international media. But most Syrian refugees don't want to go to Saudi Arabia, especially, considering they're used to a considerably more secular society.

(180 posts)I don't know if this is organized or not, but Frontline had a program on Syria in November, 2015.
The journalist asked these teenage boys a question about life in Syria or their future and the young teenage boy said, when a boy turns 18 in Syria they are conscripted into the military for a year or more!!
I would think that's why we see so many well dressed young men, cellphones in hand, colored sneakers, if no one told me, I'd think they were Americans!
