Leveson Inquiry: Tony Blair called 'war criminal' by intruder David Lawley Wakelin
Tony Blair's evidence to the Leveson Inquiry was briefly interrupted by a protester accusing the former Prime Minister of being a "war criminal".
The protester, wearing a white shirt, entered the courtroom at the Royal Courts of Justice through a door reserved for the judge.
The protester was later named as David Lawley Wakelin, a film maker who has made films criticising the Iraq war.
"This man is a war criminal," he shouted. He referred to Mr Blair's work for JP Morgan, a US investment bank, suggesting the bank had profitted from the 2003 war in Iraq.
Lord Justice Leveson, who rose to his feet when the intruder entered dressed in white shirt and trousers, called for an immediate inquiry into how he had got in.

A HISTORY OF PROTEST: THE SUSPECTED LEVESON INTRUDER
It was not the first televised protest about Tony Blair by David Lawley-Wakelin.
The filmmaker and veteran Iraq-War protester launched a similar attack during an episode of Question Time on the BBC (pictured above).
Posing as a member of the public until he was passed the microphone, he yelled: 'This country is led by liars who are prepared to kill in the name of oil.' His outburst was met with rapturous applause.
He later travelled to Iraq to make a short film in which he claimed 'to ask its citizens and military personnel whether they agreed with him'.
The Alternative Iraq Enquiry then asks: 'Should Tony Blair be taken to the Hague and tried for crimes against peace?'

(13,508 posts)At least he was released without charge - the correct response once he had
been removed from the inquiry.
Blair however should have been arrested for perjury as soon as he opened
his mouth.
