Two of Ben Carson's Top Aides Quit Campaign

Source: NBC News

Two top aides to Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson have quit the campaign, NBC News has confirmed.

In an another sign that Carson's campaign is struggling, Campaign Manager Barry Bennett and Communications Director Doug Watts have resigned amid the one-time top-tier candidate's dropping poll numbers.

"Barry Bennett and I have resigned from the Carson campaign effective immediately," Watts said in a statement. "We respect the candidate and we have enjoyed helping him go from far back in the field to top tier status. Having just announced raising $23m(illion) for the 4th Q(uarter), more than any other Republican candidate, and passing 1 million contributions and over 600 mm unique donors since March, we are proud of our efforts for Dr Carson and we wish him and his campaign the best of luck."

Carson has dropped from leading the Republican field with 29 percent support in a NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll in late October to just 11 percent by the middle of this month.

Ben is outliving his usefulness as a stooge.

Republicans/conservatives will not run a black man for Prez.

Keyes, Cain and West are living proof of that.

West never ran for President. Democrats have never ran a black man who was not a politician for president either. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton never got anywhere in their runs.

I am sure there are qualified, intelligent, knowledgeable African Americans who believe in the conservatives values - whatever they are.

It is too bad that the only one we've seen are the ones you mentioned.

Former Senator Edward Brooke could not have been the only one. Of course, the Republican party of his days was not the dangerous one of today.

George Zimmerman is only a hero to the right because he killed a black kid and is a gunnut. Otherwise they wouldn't stand him because he's Latino. Until Carson kills a Muslim while promoting gun rights, he isn't going to win over the hearts and minds of the republicans.

Maybe Carson's people gave up on teaching him foreign policy?

He is making to much money to quit, he will milk this to the convention. We all know that his real intent all along was to make money for himself and his cronies, which he has hired as campaign workers at top salaries, plus the kickbacks they get by hiring their buddies to do their fundraising. All about the money, Gingrich showed them his business model, now Ben is using it.

kind of weird that even their black brain surgeon is racist and comes off as a dunce and a loon. Guess he wasn't mean enough, hence Trump.

to pay salaries, etc. These two were paid staff. I could be wrong, and I probably am, but when he mentioned how proud they were of their work bringing in large campaign contributions, I think maybe they weren't rewarded properly for their efforts.

Carson did say his campaign was paying salaries higher than other campaigns. After the primary season is over I suppose someone will write a tell all article or something.

Republican Ben Carson's campaign manager, 20 staff quit

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON | BY EMILY FLITTER AND JAMES OLIPHANT

U.S. Republican Ben Carson's 2016 presidential bid was thrown into chaos on Thursday when his campaign manager and some 20 other staff members quit amid infighting, dropping poll numbers and negative media coverage.

Barry Bennett, who oversaw Carson's rapid rise to the top tier of Republican contenders and his later fall, said he quit over differences with another top adviser to Carson, Armstrong Williams.

Specifically, Bennett blamed Williams for an interview Carson gave last week to The Washington Post suggesting that the campaign was in disarray. "It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen a candidate do," Bennett said.

Things had "boiled over" with Williams, Bennett told Reuters. "For the past seven weeks, I’ve been doing nothing but putting out Armstrong Williams-started fires," Bennett said.

He also charged Williams was behind a story in The New York Times that suggested Carson was out of his depth on foreign policy.

I am not familiar with that notation, mm. There is no way that man has almost twice the country's population as donors.

What does mm mean?

Looks like a couple key positions have recently opened up in your campaign.

Why not bring in a take-no-guff operative to steer your presidential effort for 2016?

Give Carl Paladino a call.
