Air Canada plane makes emergency landing at Pearson after reports of falling debris

An Air Canada flight had to conduct an emergency landing Monday afternoon after debris reportedly fell from the plane.
Peel Regional Police and Emergency Medical Services are on scene at Pearson International Airport where the aircraft made an emergency landing around 4 p.m.
Reports of property damage came in around 3:45 p.m. It is not clear yet where the debris landed or if there are any injuries, but ambulances are on standby.

Then there was the engine that fell off around San Diego - supposedly due to blue accumulating on the fuselage, blowing back and knocking off the MD80 engine.

(163,986 posts)and they lost an engine over Daly City. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. They were put up in a hotel and got on another flight the next day.

(10,419 posts)Equipment failures happen. I hired on at AA two months after the infamous 1979 DC10 crash in Chicago where an engine fell off due to what they decided was failure of the bolts due to reinstallation procedures. Nearly 300 people died.
I worked with two people who were on duty at ORD at the time. One told me he had to throw out the suit he and shoes he was wearing because of the odor of the burning crash site. The other just refused to talk about it.
Not that the vast majority of airline workers don't try to do their best (current greedy top management excluded), but any accident leaves families and workers scarred forever.
