Update: The winning numbers in Saturdays record-setting Powerball
drawing are: 32, 16, 19, 57, 34 and the Powerball number, 13.
The largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history has gotten even bigger, as officials announced Saturday that the Powerball payout has risen to a staggering $900 million.
Yet, even with brisk ticket sales, just 75% of all possible six-digit combinations have been selected, officials said.
On Friday alone, California players purchased about $37 million in tickets. Saturdays sales were expected to be on par -- or higher. As of 1 p.m., Californians had scooped up $17.2 million in Powerball tickets, officials said.
The drawing is set for 7:59 p.m. Pacific time.

That has a certain symmetry, somehow.
Must we continually perpetuate this aspect of the circus (as in bread and)?
