Jay Townsend, GOP Spokesman: 'Let's Hurl Some Acid At Those Female Democratic Senators'

Source: Huffington Post

A spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.) is facing criticism after advocating violence against female Democratic senators in a Facebook post.

Jay Townsend, the official campaign spokesman for the freshman representative, went on a vicious online rant on Saturday, which he began by taunting a constituent who voiced criticism about an earlier post on gas prices. "Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz," Townsend wrote.

"My question today... when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector."

He attached a link to a Free Beacon article that claims female senators pay their male staffers more than their female staffers.

This should be sent to GOP spokesman, Jay Townsend and his boss because this is what he is advocating. He should be arrested. I've attached a link, but please be aware, photos are Very Graphic. The war on women is world wide.

We typically think of terrorism as a political act, but sometimes it's very personal.
It wasn’t a government or a guerrilla insurgency that threw acid on this woman’s face in Pakistan. It was a young man whom she had rejected for marriage. As the United States ponders what to do in Afghanistan — and for that matter, in Pakistan — it is wise to understand both the political and the personal, that the very ignorance and illiteracy and misogyny that create the climate for these acid attacks can and does bleed over into the political realm.

Nicholas Kristof, the New York Times op-ed columnist who traveled to Pakistan last year to write about acid attacks, put it this way in an essay at the time: “I’ve been investigating such acid attacks, which are commonly used to terrorize and subjugate women and girls in a swath of Asia from Afghanistan through Cambodia (men are almost never attacked with acid). Because women usually don’t matter in this part of the world, their attackers are rarely prosecuted and acid sales are usually not controlled. It’s a kind of terrorism that becomes accepted as part of the background noise in the region. …

Thug commits the deed, this jerk did not, and is not even offering to pay someone to do the deed, which hate radio fascists have offered in other cases that resulted in injuries and death. This is nowhere near the level of incitement to violence that Beck, Rush, Nugent and others have promoted for years.

My governor received death threats and letters with XYZ after a rant by O'Reilly; my Senators and Representatives have received credible death threats from the fans of Rush and Beck.

Some of those resulted in arrests and prison, but only after the people thus incited were proven to have the ability to harm. And only after they repeatedly made threats to kill my elected officials and their entire families.

This could have been seen as rhetoric, and the guy deserves all the abuse he we and anyone else heaps on him. But cooler heads than ours enforce the laws which may be a good thing.

Peace Out.

Republicans? There won't be a peep. No apology. No denouncing. They'll just wait for it to blow over and Democrats will let them.

Here's a few examples and what happened to them:

Congressman Paul Kanjorski On Florida Governor Rick Scott: “Put him against the wall and shoot him.” - nothing happened to him, but he lost his next election

New York city councilman Charles Barron: "I want to go up to the closest white person and say: 'You can't understand this, it's a black thing' and then slap him, just for my mental health" - nothing happened to him

Massachusetts Representative Mike Capuano: “I’m proud to be here with people who understand that it’s more than just sending an email to get you going. Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary,” - nothing happened to him

Massachusetts Representative Mike Capuano: “Politicians, I think are too bland today. I don’t know what they believe in. Nothing wrong with throwing a coffee cup at someone if you’re doing it for human rights.” - nothing happened to him

Both sides have people who talk without thinking, and are filled with too much hate to be effective representatives of the people who elected them.

I don't like that kind of talk from either side. The Republican examples are just as easy to find on the internet as the Democrat ones. My response was to someone who commented that nobody from the left would be able to withstand such a comment. I wanted to see if that was true, so I looked on the internet and found that it doesn't seem to be true.

Everyone says stupid things. Just look at the comments above calling me all kinds of names because I provided actual quotes from actual politicians who made their comments on the record in front to the media.

Fri Jun 1, 2012, 05:56 AM
Jun 2012

Repukes consistently advocate violence against Democrats. Those are NOT "stupid things". Here are some "comments on the record" you might want to learn:

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) held up a picture of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for the crowd, mocking it and "slapping" it."

King: "If I could start a country with a bunch of people it would be the folks standing out here the last few days. Let's hope we don't have to do that. Let's beat that other side to a pulp. Let's take them out, let's chase them down."

"Let me be the first to say this plainly: these Judges deserve to be killed," Hal Turner said.

"This is a huge threat to our Republic and Constitutional freedom...If you are what you say you are, and NOT armchair patriots, then those two justices will not live another week," said by repukes about Justices Ginsburg and O'Connor.

Sharron Angle: If this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies.

And on and on and on and on.

You think that jackass Palin putting gun crosshairs on elected officials was a joke? You think those teabagger nuts carrying loaded guns to President Obama's visits around the country is a joke? You are completely wrong.

As I stated in an earlier post, people on both sides make inappropriate remarks. I selected a few from active or recent politicians. Hal Turner is a white supremacist - this type of person is not representative of either parties platform as far as I can tell.

A plethora of examples can be found by extremists from both parties.

As for the Palin crosshairs picture. That was overplayed - mostly because she's such an easy target. There was a similar map posted by the DLC a few years before Palin's.

This is yet another example of the fact that most of the politicians will say or do whatever they think will get them support to keep their job past the next election.

Thu May 31, 2012, 09:10 PM
May 2012

The first guy lost so there's his deserved consequence.

I see the point you are struggling to make but do you really equate a slap in the face -practically a colloquialism- to an acid attack? See, here's the diff: a slap leaves you red for a few minutes. Acid disfigures for life. It's a tactic used by the taliban against schoolgirls.

I can't even relate to how that action enters a person's head in relation to making a point about something.

Your third example isn't specific enough to be violent speech.

As to the forth example, again, fail the equivalency test much?

45. Equivalency is a stretch
Thu May 31, 2012, 11:34 PM
May 2012

It all depends on how you measure. A slap in the face is not the same as throwing acid on someone. The quotes I highlighted were just as bad before the acid comment was made as it was afterwards.

I would argue that each of the actions can be ranked based on severity, but unless you believe the people quoted actually desire their threats to be carried out, they all fall into the same category.

I would bet all of the people that spoke those things didn't really intend for action to be taken.

Each year, 1,500 or more people are attacked by acid throwers world wide and 80% of the victims are women. Did you know that? Are you aware of the fact that this Republican rat bastard was invoking one of the worst of the regularly used forms of violence used in particular against women who do not conform to male power. It falls into the same category of horrors as 'corrective rape' as acid attacks are frequently waged against women who are or are perceived to be lesbians.
Any person who would invoke such a hideous act of violence, an actual ongoing tool of the worst haters on earth, is a piece of utter scum. And frankly, equating such attacks to calls for protest is pretty scummy in and of itself.
You need to read this Wiki and so should all DU, then they should research on their own and not only come tell you what for, they should all do all they can to oppose this rat of a Republican operative as well as all acid throwing terrorists world wide.
