FORMER NEW YORK GOVERNOR ELIOT SPITZER INVESTIGATED IN ALLEGED ASSAULT AT PLAZA HOTEL

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Law enforcement officials are currently investigating allegations that former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was involved in a choking assault Saturday at the Plaza Hotel in Midtown.

Officials say Spitzer and the 25-year-old woman had 'some sort of romantic relationship' for about two years. Officials believe that they may have been breaking up, and that is what led to the spat.

The woman sustained no injuries in the assault, but she cut her arm after she left the location. She was treated at the hospital, but was not admitted.

Detectives are continuing to investigate. No charges have been filed.

The complaining witness has some credibility issues, refused to cooperate, and has left the country. Before further pillorying Spitzer, maybe it's worth waiting for the police investigation to be completed to see if there is any substance to the allegations? It's interesting to watch DU forum members so quick to pile on a story with origins in the NY Daily News and NY Post.
