(6,282 posts)I remember a lot of outrage recently when Bernie Sanders did a similar thing with jobs and AAs. It will be interesting to see the outrage (or lack thereof) develop this time.

(10,650 posts)Chelsea needs to stay out of politics. Like her mother, she pushes right wing ideas way too often.
We do need to find a better way to deal with minor, non-violent offences. Imprisoning a large number of the population is insane. Only a right winger would want to maintain this terrible system.

(930 posts)You tell 'em.
While you're at it, tell 'em about your (AND the Clinton Global Initiative's) affiliation with the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the fellow who was Sec. of Commerce under Saint Reagan. Petey wants to privatize or (better yet) dismantle Social Security.
You tell 'em.
It's just f*cking fascinating.

(35,639 posts)So if Chelsea Clinton thinks it's acting like acting like a king for the federal government to get involved in local policing matters, then she should criticize Obama instead of Sanders.

(6 posts)Arrogant and oblivious. She has no idea how ludicrous this is. Sum total of her gov experience is living in the White House as a kid. That makes her qualified to school someone who has spent his long, adult life getting things done in government? Excuse me? 😏

(58,724 posts)Perhaps that is why only the word "worrying" is in quotation marks and nothing else.
Anyone who actually wants to know what she said should watch the video of her speech which can be found on YouTube.

"The event will be a town hall for about 100 senior citizens."

So ... five rows of 20 chairs?
Anyone else seeing some bias in the reporting from the OP? (The quoted article, not the DU poster themselves).

(58,724 posts)It was a town hall focussed on a group of senior citizens. It was not represented to be anything other than that.

(79 posts)The Clinton's are just revolting and I'm disgusted by their dirty tactics.
Using your young daughter to sling mud? Awful really.
This is starting to look a lot like how Clinton went after Obama with her "3 in the morning call" racist crap in 2008.

(7,024 posts)Here we have Chelsea out on the campaign trail for her Mom talking about something she has very little knowledge about and obviously unrehearsed. She looks very much out of place..
I think Chelsea would be best suited on Sesame Street having a conversation with Big Bird...It would more be her style.

(14,459 posts)We are not electing a king, we are electing a president, insisted Ms Clinton.
Maybe she should remind her mom that we're not coronating someone.

(57,750 posts)He promised that by the end of his first term the US would not have the highest prison population on earth. That begs the question of how he intends to empty the jails so quickly. Anyone--even Sanders supporters--should want to know HOW he is going to achieve that.
Her point about his not knowing about how government works is borne out by making one promise after another that is beyond the constitutional limits of the presidency.
Now, I get people here think Bernie is the most perfect person ever to run for president or even walk planet earth, but even this superior man would be constrained by the constitution if he is elected president. That means voters and surrogates for other campaigns have every right to ask how he plans to accomplish his promises or comment on what he says.
Yes, as awful as it is, people in America are still allowed to criticize Bernie. Now some here call that hated, which is frankly bizarre but sadly part and parcel o f what we have seen during this campaign.
There is nothing out of bounds, unacceptable or unusual about Chelsea Clinton's statements. What is unfortunate is that Sanders own supporters insist on less rather than more information on how their candidate plans to follow through on what he promises.

(58,724 posts)If anyone actually wants to hear what she spent that time talking about, they should watch the video of the town hall which is available on YouTube instead of this article which ignores pretty much everything she actually talked about and creates a false impression of a quote that was not actually said.
