Chelsea Clinton: Bernie Sanders’ plan to end mass incarceration is ‘worrying'

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by one_voice (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: The Independent

Chelsea Clinton said Senator Bernie Sanders’ proposal to end mass incarceration in the US is "worrying" and insinuated that her mother’s rival does not understand what is “possible” to achieve in Government.

Speaking to a packed town hall in Cleveland, Ohio, Chelsea Clinton took the opportunity to denounce Senator Sanders’ proposed criminal justice reforms when she was asked about her mother’s “vagaries” towards African American policy.

Chelsea needs to stay out of politics. Like her mother, she pushes right wing ideas way too often.

We do need to find a better way to deal with minor, non-violent offences. Imprisoning a large number of the population is insane. Only a right winger would want to maintain this terrible system.

33. Bernie didn't promise merely to stop putting people in jail for minor offenses
Mon Feb 15, 2016, 10:28 PM
Feb 2016

He promised that by the end of his first term the US would not have the highest prison population on earth. That begs the question of how he intends to empty the jails so quickly. Anyone--even Sanders supporters--should want to know HOW he is going to achieve that.

Her point about his not knowing about how government works is borne out by making one promise after another that is beyond the constitutional limits of the presidency.

Now, I get people here think Bernie is the most perfect person ever to run for president or even walk planet earth, but even this superior man would be constrained by the constitution if he is elected president. That means voters and surrogates for other campaigns have every right to ask how he plans to accomplish his promises or comment on what he says.

Yes, as awful as it is, people in America are still allowed to criticize Bernie. Now some here call that hated, which is frankly bizarre but sadly part and parcel o f what we have seen during this campaign.

There is nothing out of bounds, unacceptable or unusual about Chelsea Clinton's statements. What is unfortunate is that Sanders own supporters insist on less rather than more information on how their candidate plans to follow through on what he promises.

there is a problem in this country when it comes to incarceration, has a percentage of the population, I would like for you to read the below information and please get back to how economics creates this mess, which is costing this country over 80 billion a year.

This slice of the incarceration problem speaks volumes about policies that are failing....................................
