Primary results: Bernie Sanders upsets Hillary Clinton in Michigan

Washington (CNN)Bernie Sanders won the Michigan Democratic primary, CNN projects, in an upset that delivers a sharp blow to Hillary Clinton's hopes of quickly securing her party's nomination.

Sanders' victory, on the eve of the next Democratic debate clash that will be simulcast on CNN, raises fresh questions about the former secretary of state's appeal to blue-collar Democrats who have embraced the Vermont's senator's populist anti-Wall Street message.

Although Sanders did little to cut into Clinton's overall lead of about 200 delegates, thanks to her win Tuesday in Mississippi, his performance in Michigan suggests Sanders could mount a stronger-than-expected challenge in looming primaries in a string of Rust Belt states, including Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin.

On the Republican side, Donald Trump will win the Republican primaries in Michigan and Mississippi, according to CNN projections, important victories that propel him closer to the GOP presidential nomination, despite a week of fearsome barrage of attacks from his rivals and the Republican establishment.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, meanwhile, won Idaho, CNN projects, further validating his claims that he is now in a two-man race with the billionaire.

But the big surprise of the night was in the Democratic race.

Not the least of which is that it shakes the tree further dislodging the 'inevitability' of a Clinton win

So what happened to all the deliberately puffed up or incompetent polling trumpeted so dishonestly? I would go so far as to say that without the MSN and party organization thumbs on the scale this likely win would have been bigger. Of course who could have expected, etc. etc. And no this isn't the GOP that thrives on people not voting or passionate ignorance.

The firewalls are blown now. At this same stage people were still expecting Obama to lose. Who could have expected, etc. etc. reality rearing its Democratic head?

What glorious polls now to discourage the Sanders supporters? What buried Ozymandias wisdom should we despair about now?

I expect those who have lost their credibility on behalf of a put up job won't exactly put on sackcloth and ashes but spare us the equally obtuse after the fact rationalizations. All that and it only got their favorite a close defeat.

I'm sorry. I can't stand the MSN at all, have tossed the TV, its commercials, its views and (hah)news, years ago.

And they still won't talk about Sanders' issues if they can pimp the GOP clown contest instead.

Pyrrhic victory for Bernie Sanders. Clinton still won on the delegate count in MI. Until he starts capturing more delegates than Clinton, Sanders is not going to be running in the general election. Could be interesting if both parties find a way to run candidates who did not get the most votes in their parties caucuses and primaries. Or more cynically, if both major party candidates are indicted.

Can anyone born in any other country run for POTUS now? I don't get it. They treat the constitution like it's toilet paper.
