TRUMP: No more debates
Source: Business Insider
Donald Trump said Friday that he was done with the Republican primary debates.
The morning after the 12th Republican presidential debate, Trump said he had had enough.
"I think we've had enough debates," Trump said at a news conference in which he received the endorsement of his former presidential rival Ben Carson. "I mean, how many times do you have to give the same answer to the same question?"
The GOP frontrunner was responding to a question about a planned March 21 debate and whether his suggestion was that "we've had enough."

(2,166 posts)Unlike Bernie he will not play nice.
She has sooo much dirt, and he will use it all.
Expect some old names to pop up... again and again.
Time and again he will get her on the ropes
and there will be no letting up.
By that time he will be ready to talk issues...
and while Trump is expounding on his new-found populist agenda,
Hillary will be dodging thunderbolts.

I'm all for Bernie, but she'd handle Trump fine in any debate. He could dig up all he wants on her, none of it has ever stuck and Hillary is respected by a lot of people. He'll look like he's trying to beat her up and burn himself to the ground with independents.

(14,732 posts)nonetheless I really worry about how she will respond to some of Trumpf's off the wall, downright nasty snarks. He has raised (or lowered) this to an art form and has showh he recognizes absolutely no boundaries of any kind. I don't think she's been exposed to this type of gross verbal attack and I'm not sure she's fast enough on her feet to cope with some totally off the wall comment like "some say that you're a Lesbian" or some such. He's capable of that and much worse. We'll have to wait and see.
The Second Stone
(2,900 posts)to draw some attention to how unprofessional it is, which she won't do directly, but in a yougely classy way.
You don't think she's fast enough? You haven't been paying attention. The Benghazi hearings showed that she is the Eric Clapton of politics, she runs circles around you and makes it look like she hasn't lifted a finger.
COLGATE4
(14,732 posts)thing as a televised 'debate' with Trumpf. She won't have the luxury of taking her time to formulate an appropriate response as in the hearings - this is sound byte television where a 'zinger' requires a rapid, accurate and deadly response. She doesn't have practice in that type of encounter and I'm afraid that type of attack - which Trumpf will surely use - will leave her looking bad. It's not meant as a criticism, just an observation.
The Second Stone
(2,900 posts)and is quite quick. This senile meme is just wrong.
COLGATE4
(14,732 posts)she's senile. And being a trial lawyer (which is what I did for a living for 25 years) is no guarantee of being able to respond rapidly in an unusual and unstructured situation like the debates. Most nornal people are caught flat footed when someone hits them with something so off the wall or just plain nasty -we're not brought up learning how to handle that. That's all I'm saying and I'm done. Bye.
The Second Stone
(2,900 posts)at trials before you correctly threw in the towel (what took you so long!), but Hillary was brought up in American schools with American bullies just like the Donald, and some of us do know how to handle it. Once again, I refer you to the Benghazi hearings. This woman knows how to handle herself. She has been bullied by everyone for the past 27 years in an unrelenting manner that is unprecedented. And handled it well.
So the answer is 25 years. The question: how long does a lawyer have to practice before getting it right.

His own party is trying to act like he doesn't exist or at least multiple ways to undercut him.

(10,500 posts)The March 21 debate is in Salt Lake City. Trump will likely lose Utah whether he attends the debate or not.
The real question is whether Kasich and Cruz can work out another debate before Wisconsin on April 5. If Trump skips that one it could cost him the state. Of course....it also might not cost him anything.
This is all predicated on assuming the John Kasich wins Ohio. If he loses his home state then he will also probably be out of the race. But he seems to have a much better chance of winning Ohio than Rubio does of winning Florida.

(24,411 posts)Isn't this the DWS tactic? When you're enjoying a comfortable lead--do as few debates as possible. Lay low and just coast along, avoiding any missteps or gaffes that may cut into your lead?
The frontrunner has no incentive to do any debates. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose.
And you have *must* do debates--just schedule them during the NFL playoffs or on the Saturday before a major holiday.
LOL!

(31,823 posts)He shouldn't have to.
He won't debate the Democratic nominee either - be it Clinton or Sanders.
And - he will rewarded for spitting in their eye by not doing it.
Folks don't realize that President Obama is not viewed as a 'legit' President by folks who support Trump - that's what is really going on here with the Senate refusing to seat a member of the SCOTUS.
What HRC and Sanders supporters have to realize is that Trump supporters don't view your candidate as legitimate. Doesn't matter why - they are prepared to hate them at an equal level for not being 'just like them'.
And because neither one is a 'real human' person to them - they won't require Trump to debate them or meet them eye to eye. His strength - his greatest strength is his SUPPORTERS hatred of people like us.
