Donald Trump's Social Security, Phone Numbers Released By Anonymous
Source: AOL.com
Hacker group Anonymous released phone numbers and a Social Security number allegedly belonging to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday.
The alleged cyber attack comes just less than two weeks after the mysterious group declared "total war" on the GOP front-runner in an ominous video posted to YouTube.
News of the hack set the social media world on fire as many rushed to dial The Donald's digits in hopes of getting a word, or possible insult, from the billionaire business man -- including AOL News.
Trump didn't answer and the call went directly to an automated voicemail inbox that was full. Text messages sent to the candidate's alleged phone failed to go through as well.

(4,144 posts)The White Rose (German: die Weiße Rose) was a non-violent, intellectual resistance group in Nazi Germany, consisting of students from the University of Munich and their philosophy professor. The group became known for an anonymous leaflet and graffiti campaign, lasting from June 1942 until February 1943, that called for active opposition to dictator Adolf Hitler's regime.
The six most recognized members of the German resistance group were arrested by the Gestapo, tried for treason and beheaded in 1943. The text of their sixth leaflet was smuggled by the jurist Helmuth James Graf von Moltke out of Germany through Scandinavia to the United Kingdom, and in July 1943, copies of it were dropped over Germany by Allied planes, retitled "The Manifesto of the Students of Munich".[1]
Another member, Hans Conrad Leipelt, who helped distribute Leaflet 6 in Hamburg, was executed on 29 January 1945, for his participation. Today, the members of the White Rose are honoured amongst great heroes, since they opposed the Third Reich in the face of almost certain death.

(930 posts)to the extent that the average person can be bothered to learn from it, that the majority of Germans did nothing to stop the rise of Hitler.
Not enough is known about Trump (likely on purpose, and with no thanks to the corporate media) to know whether he is as virulent as was Hitler. It wasn't "just" the Jews that Hitler murdered and imprisoned.
In light of what we do know, my sense is that it's better to thoroughly discredit a threat to democracy.

(255 posts)America has rules, laws, regulations, signed treaties, a Constitution, a House, a Senate, a Supreme Court, autonomous states, a system of checks and balances, investigative boards, a million interested parties, lobbyists and God knows what else.
Neither Trump nor any other presidential candidate will get to do half the things they say they will do if elected because presidents are not that powerful. Worrying about Trump being a Nazi is like worrying about Sanders being a Communist. Both claims are ridiculous.
It's real issues like healthcare, college affordability, ending wars in the Middle East, bringing down debt, giving a path to citizenship to immigrants and things like that that interest me not these overblown claims trying to transpose the worst political systems in history to the present day American democratic process. That is a disservice to what America has been able to achieve up to this day.

When Brenner asked Trump about how he came to possess Hitler's speeches, "Trump hesitated" and then said, "Who told you that?"
"I don't remember," Brenner reportedly replied. Trump then recalled, "Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount.'
Brenner added that Davis did acknowledge that he gave Trump a book about Hitler.
"But it was 'My New Order,' Hitler's speeches, not 'Mein Kampf,'" Davis reportedly said. "I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish." After Trump and Brenner changed topics, Trump returned to the subject and reportedly said, "If, I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."
In the Vanity Fair article, Ivana Trump told a friend that her husband's cousin, John Walter "clicks his heels and says, 'Heil Hitler," when visiting Trump's office. http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trumps-ex-wife-once-said-he-kept-a-book-of-hitlers-speeches-by-his-bed-2015-8

(5,902 posts)But exposing the guy's SSN and other personal data serves no purpose.
Exposing those who hold millions in a Cayman Islands hedge fund, on the other hand, probably serves the common good a lot more effectively. Especially if, as is suspected, the names include lots of flag-waving Rethug politicians.

(255 posts)Anybody who has a collection of books and anybody who is interested in history has at least one book about Adolf Hitler. That does not make people Nazis.
Stop it with the Nazi stuff. There are SO MANY ways to go after Donald Trump. Why choose Godwin's law? No, Donald Trump is not Adolf Hitler. No, his followers are not Nazis. No, their plan is not to kill 6 million Jews all over again. Stop cheapening the Holocaust. Use some real arguments.

(2,338 posts)American print Mein Kampf. My late MIL was a yard sale and auction junkie and would by boxes of books sight unseen. It was in her basement. When she passed, 30 years ago, I was given several boxes of those books. It happened to be in one. I still have it, I think. Probably in the attic. Still had the paper cover on it too.

(255 posts)It might be quite valuable if it's in good condition. Do you know that the copyright to Mein Kampf in Germany expired on 1st January this year? It caused quite a stir because until now publishing the book could still be banned and controlled (even though it has been available in other countries for many years and all over the internet too). Now it's going to get much harder. There was a plan to publish a scholarly edition, putting it out there but giving it the academic touch to be more acceptable. They had big arguments about it though so I'm not sure what happened to those plans.

(255 posts)Stop over-dramatising things. When I'm reading a book, I keep it on my nightstand to read it before I go to bed. Reading a book can sometimes take several months. I have some books which have been on my nightstand for years because they just remained there in a pile and the shelves don't have much space left.
Why not talk about healthcare, affording college, the country's debt, war and peace, the minimum wage and other important issues instead of all this conjecture?

(255 posts)That is really going to win over centrist voters and independents, isn't it? People don't like underhanded tactics. They are bad PR. The democratic process should be respected. The Democrats don't need Trump's social security number released to win. Stunts like this might actually drive up his votes. These stunts only impress political die-hards who like watching opponents being mauled in any way possible, even the dirty way.

(2,103 posts)Self-identified members of the loosely organized hacktivist group Anonymous posted what they claimed to be cellphone and Social Security numbers for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday but the information appears to have been floating around online for a while.
A video claiming to be from Anonymous led to a post on the website Ghostbin, where unidentified people posted a Social Security number for Trump that appears to have been floating around online since at least 2013. It was unclear whether the number was actually Trump's.
The post also listed a cell phone number for Trump which the Republican front-runner himself tweeted out in August 2015, one day after Gawker published the number.
That website had posted Trump's number after the businessman himself gave out then-rival GOP presidential candidate Senator Lindsey Graham's number in July of last year.

That said, I take some enjoyment out of it (even if I shouldn't) because Trump's answer is always to "sue" somebody, and in this case, who's he gonna sue???!!! LOL
