Clinton: 'I Am So Sick Of The Sanders Campaign Lying About Me'

A frustrated Hillary Clinton forcefully said she was so sick of Bernie Sanders campaign alleging she accepts donations from the fossil fuel industry.
Following a campaign event in New York, the former secretary of state was approached by an environmental activist who pressed her about rejecting such contributions.
I do not have I have money from people who work for fossil fuel companies. I am so sick I am so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about me, an agitated Clinton said while angrily pointing her figure at the activist. Im sick of it.
Thursdays outburst wasnt the first time Clinton has been accused of accepting money from the fossil fuel industry. After a campaign event late last year in Iowa, Steve Patterson, a leader of a local climate change group in Iowa, asked Clinton if she would join Sanders and Martin OMalley and commit to rejecting money from the fossil fuel industry.

https://theintercept.com/2016/03/09/hillary-clinton-wants-to-regulate-fracking-but-still-accepts-a-lot-of-fracking-money/
In 2009, KKR began heavily investing in fracking, purchasing large shares of three North American oil and gas companies, and selling two of them for billions in profits. The third was hit hard by plummeting gas prices, and declared bankruptcy last year. But KKR was not deterred, and still owns a large portfolio of small fossil fuel companies, at least two of which Cinco Industries and Comstock Resources use fracking.
-snip-
Many of Clintons largest fundraisers are lobbyists for oil and gas corporations. Some of her largest contribution bundlers are lobbyists representing Chevron, Cheniere Energy, and TransCanada all companies that use fracking.
Prior to announcing her candidacy, Clinton also received $990,000 for speeches she made to the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce a heavy investor in TransCanada and the Keystone XL pipeline.

Plus, she has to be on chronic defense because she's lying so badly.
And, she has to constantly act like a liberal when she is the opposite. Imagine having to run against her own record - which is what she is doing.
And she may get indicted while campaigning.
Add all that up with having to fight someone who actually has the past record, and who will try to reign in Wall Street and do the will of the people and who is telling the truth, and there you go. Too much to handle.
And, she's losing.

From the up dated link in the OP:
......Clinton said she was unsure she had ever accepted money from the industry, noting that she isnt exactly one of their favorites. But Patterson insisted she had.
Have I? OK, well, Ill check on that, she responded. They certainly havent made much of an impression on me if I dont even know it.
According to a fact check, it is true that Clinton's campaign hasnt accepted donations directly from the industry doing so would violate campaign law and she hadnt received contributions from PACs affiliated with the industry, either. But she has received more than $330,000 from oil and gas industry employees.

Paul Blumenthal, Kate Sheppard
WASHINGTON Nearly all of the lobbyists bundling contributions for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clintons campaign have at one time or another worked for the fossil fuel industry.
A list of 40 registered lobbyists that the Clinton camp disclosed to the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday revealed a number of Democratic Party lobbyists who have worked against regulations to curb climate change, advocated for offshore drilling, or sought government approval for natural gas exports.
Clinton, the former secretary of state, has called climate change the most consequential, urgent, sweeping collection of challenges we face as a nation and a world and says it would be a major focus of her administration if she wins the White House. But having so many supporters who have sold their services to fossil fuel companies may complicate her emphasis on pro-environment policies.
Scott Parven and Brian Pomper, lobbyists at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, have been registered to lobby for the Southern California-based oil giant Chevron since 2006, with contracts totaling more than $3 million. The two bundled Clinton contributions of $24,700 and $29,700, respectively. They have helped Chevron over the years resist efforts to eliminate oil and gas tax breaks and to impose regulations to reduce carbon emissions.

Make elites compete: Why the 1% earn so much and what to do about it
Myth 1: Capital vs. labor share
In his recent and otherwise valuable book, Saving Capitalism: For the Many, not the Few, Robert Reich claims that the share of income going to workers has fallen from 50 percent in 1960 to 42 percent in 2012. Meanwhile, corporate profits have risen. In short: trillions of dollars have gone to capitalists instead of workers. The sensible policy responses, as Reich and others have stressed, are to increase taxes on corporate income and capital gains, and widen capital ownership.
These might be a good idea for other reasons, but the basic facts currently being used to justify them are wrong. Between 1980 and 2014, corporate profits actually represented a lower share of GDP (4.9 percent) than between 1950 and 1979 (5.4 percent)
.
~~
Myth 2: Super skills lead to super riches
It is certainly true that rising relative returns to education have driven up inequality. But as I have written earlier, this is true among the bottom 99 percent. There is no evidence to support the idea that the top 1 percent consists mostly of people of exceptional talent. In fact, there is quite a bit of evidence to the contrary
.
~~
Myth 3: Technology
Some entrepreneurs grow enormously rich as a result of founding a company with an innovative product. This applies to Mark Zuckerberg, as well as to Bill Gates and other mega-stars of the tech sector. Venture capitalist Paul Graham has recently written about this as an important aspect of inequality, and hes correct. It is. But again, it has little to do with the rise of the 1 percent

(4,213 posts)Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Super PAC supporting her have received more than $4.5 million from the fossil fuel industry.
Research compiled by Greenpeace USA
Contact: Perry Wheeler, perry.wheeler@greenpeace.org
Hillary Clintons campaign has been backed by the fossil fuel industry in a number of ways.
First there are the direct contributions from people working for fossil fuel companies to Hillary Clintons campaign committee. According to the most recent filings, the committee has received $309,107 (as of 3/21/16; source: Center for Responsive Politics) from such donors
Next are the fossil fuel lobbyists, many of whom have also bundled contributions. These donations also flow to Hillary Clintons campaign committee. Greenpeace has tracked $1,259,280 in bundled and direct donations from lobbyists currently registered as lobbying for the fossil fuel industry. This number excludes donations from lobbyists who are employed directly by a fossil fuel companies, as those donations would have been included in the previous number.
Last are contributions from fossil fuel interests to Super PACs supporting Hillary Clinton. Greenpeace has found $3,250,000 in donations from large donors connected to the fossil fuel industry to Priorities Action USA, a Super PAC supporting Secretary Clintons campaign.
All told, the campaign to elect Hillary Clinton for president in 2016 has received more than $4.5 million from lobbyists, bundlers, and large donors connected the fossil fuel industry.
