NY Reaches Deal for $15 Minimum Wage

Source: The Daily Beast

A whopping 66 percent pay rise is in the pipeline for some minimum-wage workers in New York. Workers in New York City will be the first to benefit, as they will have to be paid a minimum of $15 per hour by the end of 2018, up from $9 currently (and $10.50 for fast-food workers). New York is only the second state to agree on the $15 mark, following California. Businesses with 10 or fewer employees will have longer—about four years—to implement the increase in the city, and Long Island and Westchester County reportedly won’t be required to reach the $15 figure for up to six years. In areas north of Westchester, pay rises will be more modest, only hitting $12.50 by 2021. “We’re leaders in economic justice,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said after the budget deal was announced late Thursday.

company's like Walmart shorting workers on hours and screwing over part timers with erratically different schedule every week which makes it impossible for them to try to work a 2nd that they need to do to be able to pay their bills.
That and make it so the ability to raise minimum wage is taken away from the state legislature who have proven themselves to vulnerable to being bribed by corporations and give it to someone less vulnerable like the state's inspector general or the state's budget office.

I am noticing that HRC called for $12.00. This might be a winning move for Bernie in New York with this move to $15.00 for the state!

By contrast the billionaire said, 'No, the people can't get a raise from $7.25/hour. We have to stay competitive in the global market'. OMG! Unbelievable thinking!

She was a DOer when she called young black men super predators...
She was a DOer when she supported the TPP 45 times including calling it the gold standard...
She was a DOer when she supported welfare reform and kicked women and children off the rolls...
She's a DOer when she employs voter suppression and other dirty tactics, Ad Hominem and outright lies to try and smear Bernie...

She's a DOer alright... she's DOing the will of corporations.
