WASHINGTON (Reuters) -....................
In an email to supporters, a senior Clinton campaign aide said even on his signature issue of breaking up the banks Sanders had been unable to answer basic questions." The email included a transcript of the full interview.
If you are going to be a single-issue candidate, at least know your single issue, Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon said on Twitter.
"After reading the NYDN interview today, I feel like someone should ask HOW after every one of these declarative sentences in Sanders stump," deputy press secretary Jesse Ferguson posted Tuesday on Twitter.
Sanders, a U.S. Senator from Vermont, has made reducing income inequality and breaking up too-big-to-fail banks central to his presidential campaign, blasting Clinton for money she received for speeches to banks and accusing her of being too closely tied to the financial industry.

Clinton told CNN on Wednesday she was "appalled" by statements Sanders made to the New York Daily News about gun manufacturer liability and said it was unclear as to whether he understood how Dodd-Frank works, referring to a Wall Street reform law.

I imagine Sanders--by the time of the debate will have done his homework and have answers as to How his goal of breaking up he banks will be accomplished. (We can debate the how--the policy then)

But no, that's just foolish talk. Forget I said anything.

(4,229 posts)But how does Clinton propose to do it??
Or does she think they should remain large and that the "living will" requirements will be enough to prevent calamity?

(179,486 posts)Sanders has been using this talking point for a long time but even Sanders knew that there is zero chance that this silly plan will be enacted and so he never looked into what implementing this plan would entailed. Sanders is a great deal like Donald Trump. Trump has some crazy plans but has no way to implement his plans.

(12,882 posts)the immense width and breadth of "Political Revolution"? I think not. And the responses to this thread reveal that you've got lots of company.
For instance.... SO MANY other nations have single payer health care - no one goes to the poorhouse for being sick. And yet to hear Hillary and her Rethug chorus chant - we CAN'T have that here. We KNOW that's bullshit, but there it is. So to say we CAN'T dice up these blood-sucking entities is just plain shortsighted and ignorant. There are some of us who are tired of CAN'T. We're tired of being the WAR and the FUCK the populace country. You CAN'T players just go on and play on your contorted, old gameboard. We WE CAN thinkers are gonna start with some fresh rules and craft them to suit US - not the Uber-Wealthy.

(978 posts)Citizens United (which is supported by Hillary despite her desperate attempts to claim she doesn't) rules that corporations are people.
USA still has the death penalty.
So how about corporate death penalty and jail time for the criminal elements involved?

(10,056 posts)The reporter asking the question didn't know what they were talking about.
The Federal Reserve doesn't have the authority to break up banks.
It's the Treasury and the executive that does, as Sanders explained.
That the Clinton campaign doesn't understand this any better than the reporter means that they are incompetent or liars. I'm not sure which yet.

(12,882 posts)is that Clinton and her blinder-wearing "faithful" have no DESIRE to reign in these humongous and totally merciless monetary monsters. Since the status quo serves the wealthy (like the Clintons!) the whole Clinton machine is trying it's best to not make suggestions they have NO intentions of keeping.
I often shake my head in disbelief as to how IGNORANT some folks can be. But then, I remind myself of the gobs of money that the faithful pour upon the televangelists - certain that doing so is buying favor with God. There's A LOT of deluded people out there. People that adore wealthy "profits" like Hillary.
