In a campaign stop at Monroe Community College near Rochester, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton talks about the need for sensible gun regulations. Video by Sarah Taddeo

David Riley, @rilzd 8:17 a.m. EDT April 9, 2016

Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was all about Rochester during a campaign rally Friday night at Monroe Community College, dropping references to everything from Finger Lakes wine to local food distributor Foodlink.

.............. She spoke afterward to a conference of the state teachers union downtown, at one point eliciting boos when she mentioned Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has battled the union on various issues.

Clinton's speech to a packed gymnasium — her campaign estimated there were about 2,200 people in the crowd — came three days after her husband, former President Bill Clinton, spoke at a union hall in Rochester.

..............

While a small group of Sanders supporters protested outside, Clinton spoke to a largely supportive crowd, and several attendees said they had already made up their minds to vote for her.

......................

Clinton gave a stump speech that sometimes echoed points she made during a stop in Syracuse last week, touching often on creating upstate jobs, improving gun control, fighting climate change, and strengthening health care and higher education.

Here are four takeaways from Friday's event:

BRIGHTON, N.Y. --..............
Mrs. Clinton struck a cord with the crowd addressing issues many of them face including the economy and good paying jobs. Clinton says she wants to change tax incentives to encourage companies to bring manufacturing jobs back to Upstate New York.
.......................

There were a lot of young people in the audience, many of them college students.

Clinton told them she wants to make college more affordable, calling for a debt free education where students from middle class and poor families won't have to borrow money to go to a public college or university. Clinton also says she'll help those with student debt to get it under control.

"We're going to give you the opportunity to refinance your student debt. We're going to put a date certain for your obligations to end," Clinton said. "If you've been paying monthly, after 20 years it's over."

Gun violence is another area Clinton spoke about that hits close to home. She wants gun control that calls for comprehensive background checks and closes loop holes for gun show and on-line purchases.

..................
Clinton also spent some time in Buffalo.

They are on his desk, hidden under Sander's tax returns.

That would explain a lot.

Sounds just like Bernie's talking points. Wonder what she'd be saying if he wasn't running? Reminds me of the video from Saturday Night Live where the Hillary impersonator turns into Bernie. Same tactic Mitt Romney used when he debated Obama. Hope these people have their eyes open and their brains working.

and what was done here is the worst form and reduced the whole idea of late breaking news to just a spam list of fake, bullshit opinion pieces, editorial equivalent of Photoshop. Awkward and annoying attempt by an immature wonk to weasel in a campaign pitch.

This is what we all should be talking about and promoting for our candidates. This is the message that this country needs to hear, not the hate and divisiveness. I've been talking to my daughter who is 24 and a Bernie supporter. She is starting to listen and realizing that you can't follow the cult of personality without paying attention to the whole picture. Every race in this upcoming election cycle is so important and not understanding the process can have very adverse outcomes, such as the election of the rightwing Supreme Court judge in Wisconsin. She didn't realize how devastating it can be for progressive goals when you just vote for the person at the top and go home.
