Bernie Sanders supporter threatens to cut out Rep. McDermott's tongue

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by one_voice (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Seattle PI/KOMO

A Seattle man accused of threatening to cut out U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott's tongue now faces felony charges.

King County prosecutors claim Jasper K. Bell made the threat because he was upset that McDermott, D-Seattle, was supporting Hillary Clinton for president. Currently jailed, Bell, 27, has been charged with intimidating a public servant and telephone harassment.

Bell had been fixated on McDermott for some time before the April 22 incident that saw him charged, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Susan Storey said in court paper. Bell is alleged to have made threatening calls to McDermott before arriving at his Seattle office that day.

"In one phone call he demanded the congressman's home address and threatened to cut his tongue out," Storey said in charging papers. "In another call he stated that the congressman would not be safe, even after he retires."

How pathetic!!!! The harrassment that has been displayed toward superdelegates has been disgusting. Now I agree that we should be rid of superdelegates altogether, but publishing the addresses of them and threatening physical harm is way over the line.

They are everywhere. It's always good to be polite to superdelegates when reminding them that oligarchy wont be tolerated and they will be voted out if they coronate anyone against the will of the majority of people.

"won't be tolerated," thus implying you are intolerant? Your proposition seems to have some logical flaws too, one being confusion of necessity and sufficiency, in your mind towards superdelegates that you think need "reminding."

Strong-arming delegates isn't the way to get your way. I support Hillary Clinton as do the majority of democratic voters thus far. Do I need reminding that my ways support oligarchy because I too support Hillary Clinton and thus my support is against the will of the majority of people? By definition, no.

Try to be a little more tolerant of those whom you might disagree with. Threatening and bullying are not consistent with being a liberal. If you haven't figured that out already, you should study up on what being a liberal means. Flawed reasoning is what the other side is known for.

Sure, it's legal - the system is set up to enable this corruption. That doesn't mean we have to like it, and it doesn't mean we have to give up trying to change it.

You have to draw the line somewhere.

It starts with good people who support their candidate and mean well. Then the race gets competitive and someone says something nasty about the other candidate and the next person says something that tops that person's message and away we go.

This idiot, Jasper Bell, does not represent his candidate or democratic values. Bernie Sanders is a great man that would not condone such behavior. Likewise, Hillary Clinton is a wonderful person, a giving person, who has dedicated herself to public service and does not warrant such hatred towards her...which is sometimes hard to see past here on DU. Both should be admired for their dedication and admirable service.

This is why we all need to support our candidates in a positive way. Strive mightily as adversaries do, but unite behind our common values. Nastiness has no place in our party.

Part of the Hillary crap, along with purging the rolls of voters in Bernie's Brooklyn territory, handing out sample ballots at the Pennsylvania polls marked sample Official Democratic Ballot with Bernie's name not on them, calling voters in Indiana and saying Bernie has dropped out and they should vote for Hillary out of party unity, shutting down facebook groups by posting pedophilia photos on them and then reporting them to facebook, well this is right up there with the pedophilia effort.

In fact it is like, although worse, the crap Correct the Record is doing, posting stuff from people pretending to be Bernie supporters that is discrediting. One of Hillary's loons carried things too far, perhaps. Maybe he and the one with a trove of pedophilia photos can get adjoining cells.

Your garbage about Brooklyn is making you look insane. Answer a simple question - how did a REPUBLICAN woman - 6 months ago - know just which ENTIRE buildings and blocks in Brooklyn were going to vote for Bernie? Since Hillary kicked Bernie's ass in every single borough, it's much more likely she was hurt by the purge in NY, not Bernie. Just stop with your insane bullshit already.
