ANITA ALVAREZ ASKS FOR SPECIAL PROSECUTOR IN LAQUAN MCDONALD MURDER CASE

Source: WLS-TV

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez asked Thursday to be recused from the Laquan McDonald murder case and for a special prosecutor to be appointed.

Dashcam video released in November 2015 shows the black teen was shot 16 times by a Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke in October 2014. Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder shortly after the video was released. He has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Dozens of community groups and prominent attorneys filed a petition seeking a special prosecutor, claiming Alvarez's close relationship with the Chicago police union. Alvarez has denied any conflict.

Alvarez's court-filed motion said, in part, "Nevertheless, because the primary goal of State's Attorney Alvarez is, and always has been, to obtain justice for Laquan McDonald, and to ensure continuity in the handling for this important and complicated case, State's Attorney Alvarez has elected to recuse herself and her assistants from this matter."

Alverez is out, first off. Second there is a hurricane against her. This is the only option she reasonably has, unless she wants to rot in a cell with that murdering asshole.

have gone in years ago. Aside from Laquan MacDonald and all of the other questionable shooting cases, CPD was running a fucking black site and brazenly violating civil liberties of citizens on a daily basis, yet we've never heard one word about it from the Justice Department or the White House.

This is disgraceful insider politics. The Democratic establishment should be calling for Emanuel to resign rather than ignoring what's been going on in that city.

The FBI needs reasonable cause to begin an investigation. After a big RICO case in New York City was tried awhile back, the NYC congressional delegation demanded the FBI shutdown the investigation for that reason. Had that case remained open, the FBI could have been poking around NYC throughout the 20 years or so since then.

There is only one locale in the entire United States where "reasonable cause" has existed continuously since the 1920s. That place would be the state of Illinois with Chicago as ground zero.

Al Capone was jailed for tax evasion. All of his other crimes are still unsolved. The FBI investigation has remained open ever since which makes Chicago and the State of Illinois the most** closely scrutinized place in the US by the FBI.

** With the possible exception of District of Columbia since it is falls federal jurisdiction.
