At Maine convention, Democrats to vote on eliminating superdelegates
Source: Bangor Daily News Maine
Portland state Rep. Diane Russell, who is introducing the rule, is hopeful that the fight wont happen, but that so-called superdelegates will be eliminated in 2020.
Complaints about superdelegates arise nearly every presidential year. Thats because superdelegates are not bound to support the winner of a states caucus or primary when they vote at the national convention.
Russells amendment would change that in 2020, making it so all delegates, including superdelegates, are allocated proportionately to a states caucus results. Also, her amendment would send a nonbinding but strong suggestion that this years delegates vote according to this years Maine caucus results.
In March Sanders defeated Clinton with 64 percent of the vote.
She said she wont support the immediate change because it could put Maine out of compliance with rules set by the Democratic National Committee.

(362 posts)Keep in mind that these are people who honestly believe that Hillary dodged sniper bullets after getting down form an airplane and vote for her because they are frightened of going to hell. They were threatened that they would go to hell.
They do not understand issues but the Military Industrial Complex and Wall Street corporations have used mind control methods to brainwash them and make them vote for the candidate of warmongers and corporatists.
We should help such voters by engaging them and educating them.

(7,185 posts)DEM governor elected (which would definitely improve life for Mainers) but find it vitally necessary to change the super delegates to the national.
House is on fire but let's "save the barn."
This news is in at least four OPs spread among DU like a badge of honor. When your governor is LePage, I would say, you should focus on fixing your own backyard instead of trying to fix something that isn't broke.
