Hillary Clinton Declared Winner of Guam Democratic Caucuses

Source: ABC News

[img][/img]

The Guam Democratic Party has declared Hillary Clinton the winner of the party's presidential caucuses in the U.S. territory.

Counting superdelegates, Clinton has amassed just over 93 percent of the necessary total to clinch the Democratic nomination, according to ABC News projections. To get to the magic number of 2,383, the former secretary of state needs to win 16 percent of all remaining delegates and 73 percent of pledged delegates.

Meanwhile, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders needs to win 97 percent of all remaining delegates. He cannot reach 2,383 on pledged delegates alone; to win the Democratic nomination, he would need the support of the superdelegates.

Many were drawn into the nomination process specifically to oppose him. I have a friend who is a mild Republican who will still vote against him doing just this.

So adding them into his total is completely silly.

That is exactly how Cynthia McKinney lost her seat in Congress. She was despised by the republicans and they flocked to the democratic primary to vote for her opponent. That is the main reason I hate open primaries.

Hurrah for Bernie!

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has cut into Hillary Clinton's lead by more than two dozen delegates, based on new data from Washington state, but his chances of winning the nomination haven't gotten much better. Clinton won the Guam caucus.

In Guam, the party said Clinton won 60 percent of the vote to earn four of the seven delegates at stake. Sanders will pick up three delegates.

It's going to come down to Oregon and California, and Bernie will win our states.

Still, even with the additional delegates for Sanders, his mathematical chances of winning the nomination haven't improved.

Based on primaries and caucuses to date, Clinton now has 1,702 delegates while Sanders has 1,411 — or a lead of 291 delegates, according to the AP count.

If he hopes to overtake her based on just those primary and caucus delegates, he still must win 66 percent of the remaining delegates — a figure basically unchanged from before.

Clinton's lead is bigger when including superdelegates — party officials who can support any candidate.

She now has a total of 2,224 delegates, or 93 percent of the 2,383 delegates needed to win. Sanders has 1,450.

Just 159 delegates short, Clinton remains on track to clinch the nomination early next month.

41. And then, she has to win the presidency.
Sat May 7, 2016, 04:11 PM
May 2016

Trump is very popular, and Hillary's supporters do not fathom the unwillingness among Bernie's supporters to vote for her in November.

If Hillary veers further to the right to appeal to Republicans, she will lose the Bernie voters.

All the unfairness and ugliness of her conduct of her campaign will backfire on her.

And it is all because she has a rather difficult personality.

In fact, if the contest in November is between Hillary and Trump, it will be a decision between two disliked candidates.

Bernie's big advantage is that people really like him much better than they do Hillary or Trump. Democrats, especially the super-delegates, need to consider that very carefully.

Trump's voters will come out to vote. Hillary does not excite that kind of affection, admiration or loyalty among as large a group of potential voters.

Bernie will probably do very well in Oregon and California, and it behooves Hillary and her supporters to be a lot more courteous and respectful of Bernie voters than they have been or are being. That's my advice after many, many years of watching campaigns.

In other words, if you believe you are winning, win gracefully. The premature gloating by Hillary supporters on DU is not a winning strategy.

Hillary is going to need more than the votes she has won in the primaries to win the White House. They are not going to come from Trump supporters. If they come at all, they have to come from Bernie supporters.

Same for Bernie supporters. Be gentle with the mislead and foolish Hillary supporters. Bernie will need them in November if he wins at the convention.

If we believe in the First Amendment then we support the right of protestors to protest in the free speech areas. That is a California campus tradition.

But as for the protestors outside, no. They did not stop Hillary from exercising her free speech.

This is a weak argument. Free speech is generally encouraged on campuses in certain areas in California. As I said, that is where you can go to register voters. I used the free speech areas to register voters for Obama.
