Strong storm in Lincoln produces rain, at least one tornado and baseball-sized hail

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Nancy Gaarder

Commuters thinking of heading to Lincoln may want to stay put.

A nearly stationary supercell thunderstorm was hammering the Lincoln area Monday evening with large hail and heavy rain, and spawned at least one tornado.

Damage reported in the Lincoln area appeared to be mostly due to hail the size of baseballs or larger.

However, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Lincoln, Waverly, Hickman, Bennett and the Wagon Train State Recreation Area. The weather service also cautioned that the storm had the ability to spin up another tornado quickly.

I drove home from work when the sirens were going off, I've never been known for being brilliant.
