LePage takes credit for canceling ‘North Woods Law’

Source: Bangor Daily News

Gov. Paul LePage said this morning that he played a role in the cancellation of “North Woods Law,” a reality television show that was at the center of an investigative report published this week by the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.

LePage, in response to questions about the demise of the show from WVOM radio hosts on Tuesday morning, said he was among the show’s critics because he felt it cast Maine in a negative light.

“I might have had something to do with that because I got hundreds of complaints about the show,” said LePage. “I had more to do with that being canceled than any sting operations.”

Producers of the program announced in 2015 that production would cease sometime this year because the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife had opted not to sign another contract with producers.

I am a native Mainer, and it warms my heart immensely to see Maine's resources so respectfully guarded by the Maine Warden Service.

Favorite local fishing spots etc.

Interacted with several wardens here in Maine - neighbors night hunting (or checking my fishing licence).

Saw one of the "undercover" wardens in a grocery store in Kingfield - he gave me the stink eye - lol

Had a season pass at Sugarloaf for a few years in college. Probably left my ACL on Widowmaker.

I guess it's good, but it seemed a bit much to a kid who started on the rope tow at Titcomb Mt.

I wish I could still ski. Have fun.

3. Cast Maine in a "negative light?" Quite the opposite

It showed Maine to be a rather innocent place, where the worst that happens is someone bags an illegal deer or keeps an illegal raccoon as a pet. I thought it really helped Maine's image.

and I have no idea what that reason is, except that it has nothing to do with reasonable judgement.
