Poll: Nearly half less likely to vote for candidates who back Trump

Source: The Hill

Nearly half of voters in a new poll would not support candidates who have endorsed likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Thirty eight percent said they are "much less likely" to vote for those who back Trump in the Morning Consult survey released early Tuesday.

Eleven percent said they are "somewhat less likely" to cast ballots for candidates supporting the billionaire.

Just 16 percent say they are "much more likely" to support down-ballot candidates who have voiced support for Trump.

If interested, take your time, they won't be filled by anyone anytime soon and there may well be considerably more open up the closer it is to the dates.

I don't see comparable numbers for Clinton, but I'd be shocked if there aren't roughly the same number of people who are less likely to vote for candidates who back her.

In 2012, I'd imagine that most of the people voting for Obama (largely Democrats) were less likely to vote for someone who supported Romney (the Republican). etc.

The Republican Party is lining up behind Trump. They will back him 100% and the sheep will all fall into their designated places in the herd. It is ridiculous to think that people who are so embedded in the Republican delusionary world will suddenly vote for Hillary Clinton, the candidate they loathe or the Democratic Party they think has destroyed the country. Now that the primaries are basically over, Trump will start moving to the center (he already has a bit) and will tone down his rhetoric to please the establishment. Hillary will make the same mistake she always does and veer to the right (and she's already floating that possibility) on the assumption that the Republicans will overcome their hatred of her because Trump is worse and the liberal Democrats will support her as the lesser of two evils. The Republicans most certainly will not support her and her moving to the right will alienate even more liberals who currently intend to hold their noses and vote for her as the generally less conservative of the two candidates.

Let's see the polling in a few more months. I doubt voters will even remember which down-ballot candidates supported Trump now and it will not matter at all when all the Republicans support him. This election may be very close.
