Donald Trump Supporters Boost Bernie Sanders in West Virginia

Source: NBC

<...>

A third of those who voted in West Virginia's Democratic primary say they plan to back Trump in November, according to NBC News exit polls. Sanders won those voters by a wide margin.

In fact, 39 percent of Sanders voters said they would vote for Trump over Sanders in the fall. For Clinton, nine percent of her voters say they plan to come out for Trump in the general election.

West Virginia has an open primary, meaning independents can vote in the Democratic contest. With the GOP nomination wrapped up, it's possible mischievous Trump supporters sought to damage Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee, by voting for Sanders.

<...>

Sanders, the Vermont Democratic Socialist, won self-described conservative voters. He also won 62 percent of voters who said they want less liberal policies than Obama's.

That suggests some of Sanders' voters may have been motivated more by a desire to vote against Clinton, rather than to support Sanders' policy ideas.

Hillary's campaign is happy to tell the remaining states to STFU and whine for Bernie to drop out. You can't have it both ways.

You appear to be confusing an observation with "crying" (however, I certainly understand the bias behind doing so... it allows a sense of peevish self-satisfaction which would be otherwise, non-existent).

and he actually wins the nomination by some miracle, 40% of the people who voted for him yesterday would pick Trump over him in the GE.

That's sad.

The two men couldn’t be farther apart in approach and perspective.

Why would they flip to Trump even if Sanders is the nominee?

That doesn’t make sense.

They are voting strategically. If I could vote in a GOP primary, I would certainly vote for Trump. In my opinion, he's the easiest one to beat. I would flip to Bernie or Hillary in the GE without hesitation. It's called lying.

Never in a million years - under any circumstance and under any reason.

But this then begs the question - WHY?

What's in it for them?

Why do they want Trump to run against Sanders?

Hmmmm . . . .

It seems much more likely that they hate HRC and just vote for Sanders for spite since their candidate is already "In". I can't imagine someone who thinks that Trump would make a good president actually liking liberal Sanders.

I want both Mrs. Clinton and Senator Sanders to ignore Trumps republican party follies until primaries are over. Two other 'campaign quitter' Rs hold on to their delegates.

I want Clinton/Sanders to team-up, VP and Pres. for the general election. We'll have to wait & see how both primaries play out.
