Romney calls decision by Trump not to release tax returns 'disqualifying'

Source: Fox News

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney slammed Donald Trump Wednesday for declining to release his tax returns, saying in a Facebook post the only explanation was that the documents contained a "bombshell of unusual size" about the presumptive GOP nominee.

"It is disqualifying for a modern-day presidential nominee to refuse to release tax returns to the voters," Romney wrote about the real estate mogul.

"There is only one logical explanation for Mr. Trump's refusal to release his returns: there is a bombshell in them," he continued. "Given Mr. Trump's equanimity with other flaws in his history, we can only assume it's a bombshell of unusual size."

On Tuesday, the billionaire told the Associated Press he doesn't expect to release his tax returns before November, citing an ongoing audit of his finances.

I suspect that Romney is keeping the door open to running himself.

If you substitute Trump for Wesley, Romney's quote makes sense.

By running on a right-wing, third party ticket and thus guaranteeing a Democratic victory this November.

Prophecies, like God, work in mysterious ways.

I'm at odd with his basic conservative values, but on the other hand I think he's a fairly sincere and honest guy and he really (albeit incorrectly) believes his way is best. I can disagree with him on policy but still consider him a person of integrity.

He's one of the most dishonest politicians in American history, publicly lying 533 times in 30 weeks. Everything he said and did was an elaborate deception designed to get close enough to steal it all--and he had to steal it from the rednecks first, by manipulating the convention rules.

Nobody has ever set the bar for integrity as low as Mitt Romney... until Donald Trump. That's why Romney is in the news, now. He's trying to pull a Chicago '68 and steal the nomination without even running in the primaries. Because he is a lying, totally amoral, political chameleon who will say anything to gain the power he covets. Integrity runs in the other direction when he speaks.

The Donald Trump that Donald Trump likes to sell to the public makes his money through hard-nosed dealings in the New York real estate market.

The Donald Trump that actually exists makes his money by licensing his name. It's nearly impossible to turn a significant profit in commercial real estate. If that ever gets out to the population at large - which it would if he releases his tax returns - it'll dilute his brand. Trump KNOWS he's screwed come November...Hillary Clinton is more than capable of beating him in a landslide. Because he'll be back in the private sector, he wants to continue to make the big bucks.

22. You are taxed on income, not wealth

This is a trap a lot of "tax the rich!" types fall into. Wealth is the total amount of assets you have. It isn't on your 1040 for this year because there's no telling when it came into your life - some of Warren Buffett's wealth came to him, and was taxed to him, 50 years ago. Income, which you report and pay tax on this year, came to you in this tax year.

If The Donald has $10 billion in wealth and $10 million in income (he plays in commercial RE which is not super lucrative in the short term...the real money comes when you sell it) one of two things will happen: people will accuse him of tax evasion, or they'll accuse him of lying about his wealth.

And really, what should concern us about Trump is his nazi-ass platform, not how much money he made last year.

Romney's return, if he could print it out (people in his tax strata must file electronically) would have taken over a ream of paper.
