G for 'Gun', T for 'Tank': ISIS app to teach children jihadi themes
Source: The Time of India
WASHINGTON: ISIS has reportedly launched its first mobile app for children to teach them the Arabic alphabet and the vocabulary taught by it includes jihadist themes along with words like 'tank', 'gun' and 'rocket'.
The Islamic State's 'Library of Zeal' has released an application for teaching the Arabic alphabet to children on Android devices, the Long War Journal reported. The vocabulary taught within the application includes jihadist themes. The application was released through Islamic State Telegram channels and on other file sharing websites.
The application has games for memorising and how to write the Arabic letters in addition to including a 'nasheed' -- a cappella Islamic songs - designed to help teach the alphabet.
The lyrics in the nasheed are littered with jihadist terminology, while other games within the app also include militaristic vocabulary with more common, basic words, the report said. Words like 'tank', 'gun' and ' rocket ' are among the first few taught within the application.

(16,423 posts)Yeah, the Middle-East is a violent rathole right now. But it's more complicated than "it's the US' fault", because middle-eastern people have a different attitude towards the concepts of nation and patriotism. Patriotism does not only depend on country, but also on religion, ethnicity, tribe, clan...
Example: During the Iran-Iraq-war, western experts thought that the iraqi Shias would side with the Iranians because those are also Shias. Saddam would instantly lose that war. Instead, the patriotism towards Iraq was stronger. After Saddam was deposed, the rogue shia cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr opened diplomatic talks with Iran, even though they have nothing in common but religion.
It can be very complicated.
And the Middle-East does not have that many positive examples for a just and stable nation that they could use as a guideline.
Ignoring all that won't solve it.
And the situation will actually become even crazier with
1. global-warming making living-conditions more hostile
2. oil-prices staying ridiculously low because production keeps rising faster than demand
3. Saudi-Arabia switching from political manipulation behind the scenes to military adventures
4. Iran trying to reestablish itself as a regional power
5. Erdogan trying to establish Turkey as a regional power
