Nevada Dem convention devolves into chaos; Sanders supporters boo Boxer

Source: The Hill

Tensions were high at the Democratic convention in Nevada Saturday, with Bernie Sanders supporters demanding delegate recounts, booing Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and causing other disruptions, according to local media reports.

Sanders supporters were angry over a voice vote that adopted a set of temporary convention rules as the permanent rules, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

And supporters also reacted angrily to the count of delegates attending the convention, which put Clinton at an advantage.

Boxer, a Hillary Clinton supporter, said among booing from the crowd “the future of the country is at stake. When you boo me, you’re booing Bernie Sanders. Go ahead. You’re booing Bernie Sanders.”

But, in the end, it's probably for the best. Bernie only reversed the caucus on a technicality, so this is probably the fairest possible outcome: what caucus goers wanted. It breaks my Bernie-loving heart a little bit, but this is probably what's best for the Nevada Democratic Party in the long run.

Dems who break their own rules to favor one candidate over another should definitely be stopped.

Boxer was boo'd - and Nina Turner, who spoke for Sanders, was heckled by Clinton supporters. Tit for tat, children.

"Chaos" has ensued since pre-registration yesterday - with an overwhelming number of Sanders delegates suddenly discovering there were 'problems' with their registrations. Not so many Clinton delegates, interestingly.

Roberta Lange, the chair of the NV DEMS, decided to ignore clear voice votes, passing convention rules and committee appointments before all the delegates were seated (there are still delegates trying to get in the doors) and in contravention of the NV DEM standing rules of order for state conventions.

Some folks are worried about people being rude while the democratic process is being shredded by the establishment Democratic party.

Those are some f'd up priorities. Really.

Rodham is the third and youngest child of Hugh Ellsworth Rodham, a Chicago textile wholesaler, and Dorothy Howell Rodham. His other sibling is brother Hugh Edwin Rodham.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Rodham

He attended Iowa Wesleyan College and the University of Arkansas, although he never received a degree from either school.[2]
Life and career: 1992–2001

In 1992, during Bill Clinton's first presidential campaign, Rodham began working for the Democratic National Committee, coordinating constituency outreach.[2] In 1993, he and his brother Hugh ignited a small controversy when they tried to solicit corporate donations for Clinton's inaugural parties; they dropped the effort after a public outcry.[6]

On May 28, 1994, Rodham married Nicole Boxer, daughter of United States Senator from California Barbara Boxer, in a ceremony at the White House attended by 250 guests;[7] it was the first White House wedding since Tricia Nixon married Edward Cox in 1971.[7] They had one son, Zachary, in 1995[8][9] (who later held a unique distinction in that he was simultaneously the grandson and nephew of sitting U.S. senators), before separating by 2000[10] and then getting a divorce.

By then, Tony Rodham had left his position at the Democratic National Committee[11] and described himself as "a consultant ... [in] all kinds of businesses. I'm a general consultant. I just bring different peoples together. I help them negotiate deals. I solve problems for people."[8] In 1997, Rodham tried to arrange meetings between Paraguayan President Juan Carlos Wasmosy and President Clinton,[11] and also powerful Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and the President.[4] In 1998, he paid a visit to dictatorial Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia.[11] In each of these cases, there was criticism that he was giving an unauthorized impression of White House approval to these foreign figures, or was seeking financial gain for himself.[4][11]

Charitable foundation? Rich people have charitable foundations. People who get megabucks for a half hour's speech to banksters and a little rubbing shoulders have charitable foundations.

BS lost.

He lost because he was too pure to go after the supers until it was too late, and then he realized he needed them.

He lost because he was taken by surprise by the states' primary rules that have been in place for years.

He lost because, though people of color told him he was faltering with respect to them, he ignored them till it was too late.

He lost because, though he acknowledged that his supporters were rabid and were turning off voters, he never reined them in.

He lost because he could not answer foreign policy questions.

He lost because his "plans" were too obviously things that he pulled out of his ass and that had no prayer of ever being enacted.

He lost because he didn't do a good enough job of getting voters to vote for him.

He lost.

So I'll just back out of this "BS Supporter Loop" conversation and wish you a good evening.

polls better than she does versus Trump, is more liked, and more trusted than she is. If she runs against anyone other than Trump, she will be the most unpopular nominee in polling history. She is corrupt (largest donors over career are banks, been raking in money from corporate interests since the campaign started and has gotten more money from Wall Street than all the other candidates combined, she and her husband have gotten over three billion since they entered politics, and those interests have benefited from the policies they've supported). You all pretended to be against Citizens United, now you don't bother because you know how you'd look backing her and pretending to be against that. She has an extremely hawkish record and a center-right record on economic issues. The FBI is conducting an investigation and she could be indicted.

Sanders lost because he decided to run in a party where you could be all those things and still win the nomination (so what has the party become and what exactly do you stand for?), a party that doesn't care about her corruption, horrible poll numbers, or her center-right record. He ran in a party where the most progressive candidate in the race is far more popular with the general public than the that party. He also ran against a candidate with massive amounts of money and establishment support, and a person in the most powerful family in the party he decided to run in. He came from 60 points down to almost beat her.

He shouldn't support her in the coming election, don't bother, and work to form a third party at the national level that bring together the countless left of center parties across the country, and the millions of his supporters that wouldn't bother with your corrupt candidate and party. Stop pretending that people wanting to address and radically change structural inequality, corruption and a system that is leading us to ecological collapse can unite with people that don't want any of that. People shouldn't be united because they want to decide to be on the same team. That team should stand for something, how do you unite people so far apart logically, morally and ideologically? Isn't possible.

However, it seems more and more these days that if a person does not agree 100% on a specific set of issues the loud-mouthed purists are quick to discard and vilify them.

It's a boost to them in Senate and House races, even without the pending FBI investigation.

I'm watching the Sunday shows this morning and it felt odd at first, the Republicans and other Trump supporters are just chatting about Trump, I heard one Republican make a 5 second comment to Keith Ellison along the lines of "your side has it's own batch of problems with it's candidate" and Keith laughed and agreed. That was the entire extent of talk about Hillary on the whole show.

Then I realized, all the Trump people and other Republicans are laying off Hillary for awhile in a coordinated way.

Once the conventions are over it's going to get insane.

The way many of us see things, on the right and the left, with anti-establishment candidates; especially so with Bernie Sander's, which is truly a method that would arrest power and money from those in charge of everything now, this is a moment in our lives to do things peacefully and within "the rules".

We literally have a candidate that isn't bought and is speaking to the needs of most of this country. Those standing in the way will be remembered. And I'm not so sure the youth will continue to "play" inside their rule book. They are getting anything anyway; why not burn it all down.

This could truly be the last chance the PTB have for allowing more people into the system and shoring up some fairness... But no, they are enclaved in their bubbles and truly have no clue how the next 10 years could be a smoother transition into a socialized democracy or absolute violent chaos.

geez... so they should just go along and let the rules change mid game without complaint, right? should just stop trying? probably shouldn't have run in the first place, then Hillary would have a clear path with no hurdles. These comments are GREAT.

They didn't win in votes, so they tried to steal it in convention then play victim when that fails.

If BS can't even do this, how in the #^@/ do you think he could stand up to Trump?

I would boo my own Democratic Senator, Ron Wyden ...

These 'establishment' Democrats are Quislings who have helped the right wing degrade the Middle Class for decades now ....

They deserve to get booed ....

There has been cheating going on the whole way, but it has not been that blatant and in our faces before. The DNC and state parties can't even follow their own rules that they set up. They are determined to tear our party apart.

Half supporters against and half opposed.

The Clintonistas are Stalinistas. They really do agree with Stalin in that "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."

in 2008 it was Hillary's supporters accusing the Obama campaign of cheating. In ths year's Republican race, it was supporters of Cruz and Kasich accusing Trump of cheating.
Which ever candidate is behind ALWAYS accuses the leading side of election fraud but PROVING it is a whole different story from making the accusation.

All Clinton and the Third wayers need to do is throw us a few Progressive bones and we would be with them. However, they are too addicted to their Corpo-dollars to do it.

So.... screw them.
