Target 2 Investigates: Disappearing drunk driving charges in Waupaca County

Source: WBAY, ABC affiliate in Green Bay, WI

WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Arrested and charged for drunk driving, but walking away with a slap on the wrist. These are the kinds of tips Target 2 has been receiving the last few months.

Tipsters have been asking us to investigate if and how this could happen in Northeast Wisconsin.

Target 2 Investigates started digging through records and uncovered what judges, prosecutors–and even defense attorneys–describe as “stunning.”

I smell a "good ol' boy" network.

Or an incompetent and/or lazy prosecutor.

Also it is possible corruption is covering up other corruption - may be WHO the perps are, WHO they know, and WHAT they know.

Many years ago I got a ticket in a rural Texas county. The state trooper instructed me to call a number for the adjudication. Turns out the number was the home number of the county judge, and he tells me to mail him a check sent to his home address, and made out to him personally. After doing so the ticket never showed up on my drivers license. I'm pretty sure the money never made it to the county. I've heard similar tales from lots of other people here in Texas.

But I could be wrong. I am sure some of them are "good people." A la Mr. Trumpy.

Look at Roy Moore in Alabama. Even after he was black balled as judge the first time, they re-elected him with predictable results.

So it's very telling how wingnuts claim the Constitution is a sacred document, but can't manage to demonstrate respect for it.
