"The sheriff's office said there are always options for people in a similar situation."
That callous response from the sherrif's office is what fired me up about this. Made me wish to post this bit of news. It should be heard. God I can't help but feel sorry for them both. He wanted his wife's pain to be over. He knew he was going right to jail, maybe even dead not long after!
This has got to stop, we have got to be looking out for our people, or start bringing down those that stand in our way of doing it!
I don't even know if I'm posting this in the right place.

(160,526 posts)The police response to this sad, sad situation is unacceptable. If that man thought there was another way, he most certainly would have taken it.
The poor, the helpless suffer, while the people who create their suffering live without the panic which terrorizes everyone else. I truly despise them.
If something isn't done now, WHEN, or are we all just born screwed already? We also know upward mobility is a fantasy in the present.
We must remember to thank our parents, and ancestors in prayers, and pay tribute to those who order poor young men and women to go kill other young men, in unending wars, so they can keep things this way forever.
:sarcasm, somewhat:
These stories NEED to be heard, and cared about.
Thank you, redixdoragon.

(1,166 posts)both Democrats and Republicans grease their palms with corporate bribes and allow the health insurance industry to write the laws that keep drug prices sky high and medical help impossible to afford for so many Americans. In a perfect world we could have our government tried for treason. What bitter comedy the whole thing is.

(10,597 posts)Thank you for sharing this tragic story. It does need to be told. And sadly, I have heard of this kind of thing before. It's a crime she had to be in such pain and her husband felt there was no other way to deal with the situation.

(150 posts)A similar situation happened in my area a few years ago. I called the prosecutor's office as did many other people and my recollection is the women did not go to prison.
Start calling the prosecutor now!

A half way decent lawyer could get him off on mental competence grounds alone.
