Man believed to be ex-Arizona lawmaker held in Alaska death

Updated 10:08 pm, Tuesday, May 17, 2016

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A man believed to be a former Arizona state legislator who has spent the last month as a day laborer in Alaska's capital city has been accused of killing a man in a hunting party after a day of drinking.

Mark De Simone, 53, faces murder charges in the shooting death of 34-year-old Duilio Antonio "Tony" Rosales at Excursion Inlet, a remote hunting spot 35 miles northwest of Juneau, the Juneau Empire reported (https://is.gd/VMhmwV).

A member of the six-man hunting party heard two shots Sunday evening. When he came to the front of the cabin, he found Rosales dead from two gunshot wounds to the back of the head from a .41 magnum revolver.

Assistant district attorney Amy Paige said it's believed Rosales was killed as he sat at a picnic table, taking off his boots.
