US Intelligence: Foreign Hackers Spying on Campaigns

Source: ABC News

The United States sees evidence that hackers, possibly working for foreign governments, are snooping on the presidential candidates, the nation's intelligence chief said Wednesday. Government officials are working with the campaigns to tighten security as the race for the White House intensifies.

The activity follows a pattern set in the last two presidential elections. Hacking was rampant in 2008, according to U.S. intelligence officials, and both President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney were targets of Chinese cyberattacks four years later. Despite that history, cyber experts say neither Donald Trump's nor Hillary Clinton's campaign networks are secure enough to eliminate the risk.

"We've already had some indications" of hacking, James Clapper, director of national intelligence, said Wednesday at a cybersecurity event at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington. He said the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security were helping educate the campaigns.

Of the attacks, Clapper predicted, "we'll probably have more."

done in the name of the state, or some "conspirators&quot I mean it has to be secret so you know it's "intelligence" and not just some smart guys in a closet somewhere), always for some noble purpose of course ...

I'm not getting into Mr. Trump, people will yell at me and accuse me of supporting him because I talk about him dispassionately. You have to get upset. They are all upset, and don't want anybody else thinking either. I think they better calm down and start thinking. He has been underestimated right along, and does what he can to encourage that, but since they are so busy attacking him personally, he doesn't have to do much, he just keeps babbling along, and they keep talking about him, pouring gas on the fire.

hackers to avoid getting caught. My guess is that if there has been hacking of voter registration databases or voting tabulators it would be done from a foreign country. Of course, it may just be that China or Albania wants to manipulate the election, but how would we ever know?
