Canada PM Justin Trudeau: I'm sorry for manhandling parliament members

Source: CNN

It was only a matter of time.

Since Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister of Canada last November, he seemed -- at least in the public's eyes -- capable of doing no wrong.

Hailed as the "anti-Trump," Trudeau impressed with his commitment towards gender equality and embrace of Syrian refugees. Then there was also his athletic prowess and his grasp of quantum computing.

The world was clearly enjoying a love-affair with the young, charismatic leader.

It's clear in the video. And she had a hissy fit and claimed she was so devastated by the bump that she had to leave the session and couldn't vote.

Can you imagine any man saying that he was so devastated by an inadvertent bump that he had to leave in tears?

Grow a pair, lady.

It looked to me like he was trying to help that short guy get around those taller people. But he did lightly push the woman when he did it. He should apologize to the woman for lightly pushing her.

Much to do about nothing.

Almost as totally justified as consistent use of the of Denying the Antecedent, and implying someone justified a thing when no one actually did.

Human bias, when objectivity is ironically implied, is most bemusing and irrational-- like a 12 year old stomping across the floor.

He DIDN'T stomp, or shout, or run, or do ANYTHING but walk over and escort a gentleman through a throng of people who were hindering his progression. And Trudeau accidentally bumped the woman. Tempers might have been high, but it's much ado about nothing.

and say and do things that a man would never do in her position. It hurts all feminists.

From an AP article:

Opposition lawmaker Ruth Ellen Brosseau said she had to leave the House of Commons chamber Wednesday.

“I was elbowed in the chest by the prime minister and then I had to leave. It was very overwhelming,” she said. “I missed the vote because of this.”

She found an accidental bump "Overwhelming"? She couldn't do her job? Sob sob sob.
She makes women legislators sound helpless and hysterical.

I agree completely with you that it was an overreaction, but "grow a pair" is not conducive to a rational discussion, since it presupposes only men are tough, thus one must have testicles in order to be tough. I have the same problem with Barbara Boxer "fearing for her life" because people shouted at her. Seriously, she is in the wrong profession if someone shouting "You suck" makes her fearful.

But once sexist language is employed, we have lost the argument.

And to be fair, I have known people, male and female, who might have been upset by the above incident and left. Knowing these people as I do, I know they are sensitive souls, and can sympathize. However, none are in politics, or some other "full contact profession". Your question seems to be was this simply amateur dramatics for the sake of politics, and that is a valid question and a reasonable suspicion. I am simply suggesting that you undermined your point by injecting a sexist comment which allows other people to dismiss your argument.

Here in the states if a Democrat had even accidentally bumped Saint John of Orange or Mitch McBleepstick we'd have several goddamn days of Republicans tearing up and whining about how mean the Democrat in question was. Especially if the person in question was a woman and/or a minority.

The MP he was "helping" didn't wan't his help, and asked him to get his hands off.

And in the process of "helping," JT told someone to "Get the fuck out of my way."

I guess the pressure of actually working* is making it difficult to maintain those "sunny ways."

to when Trump's campaign manager grabbed that reporter is interesting.

Trudeau is starting to follow the arrogance and bad manners of the old man.

But in his case it is taking months, not years.

The Conservatives have some extremely irritating guys (Pierre Poilievre, come on down!) who have already shown that they can get under Trudeau's skin. If Trudeau cannot control his temper he is going to have a long and unhappy four years.
