Delaware school where girl died after beating mourns another teen

Source: CBS

WILMINGTON, Del. -- A 15-year-old Howard High School of Technology student has died after being shot in Wilmington, the second student to die in recent weeks.

Wilmington police said in a news release that officers found the boy lying on the ground Thursday afternoon, a few blocks away from the school, with a gunshot wound to his head. He later died from his injuries.

Howard High School Principal Stanley Spoor posted a note on the school's website confirming the shooting death of a freshman student. He says counselors will be available at the school Friday.

"All of the Howard community is pained by the loss of this young man and we all grieve his death," Spoor wrote.

His parents were so happy that he got into there (It's the tech magnate school. He wants to do something with computers for a living). They said Howard (in Wilm.) was so much safer and better than going to our local high school, which my son attends (more geared towards college prep and the arts). I know violence can happen anywhere, but.... My heart breaks for the parents of both Brandon and Amy, and anyone caught up in school violence.

There's one by my house that I would never send my kids to. All the money in the world could be thrown at a school and if the kids don't get the support they need at home. There's always going to be problems.

Violence in our schools and around our schools need to end, we have to lead by example and be better parents to our kids. Only then will the fisticuffs and gun violence end.

Somehow, we have to work together to give them all the love and guidance they need.
