Secret Service shoot an armed man outside the White House and leave him in critical condition

Source: DailyMail.com

An armed man has been shot outside the White House after brandishing a gun at a Secret Service checkpoint.
The suspect, described by witnesses as a man in his 20s, was shot once in the stomach by Secret Service officers one block west of the White House, leaving him in a critical condition.
The building was put on lockdown and Vice President Joe Biden was rushed to a secure area as the gunman was taken to hospital.
President Obama was not home at the time of the shooting as he was out playing golf.
The lockdown ended at around 4pm.

City police seem to try to make sure whoever they shoot is dead, regardless of how many shots that takes, and whether he remains a threat or not.

Some Police Officers just want time to take the family to Disney World.

Plus, no disrespect to the police that honestly try to serve and those that keep their firearms skills up, but many times when you read about a police shooting they fire a LOT of bullets, and only hit the target a few times (NY is notorious for cops shooting dozens of rounds and to hit once or twice), the SS is trained to a pretty damned high standard.

ANY organization that trains people to shoot in a combat mode trains to the same doctrine: fire at the center of mass. MOST train to 'keep shooting until the subject stops moving. The average person switches into complete panic mode in a firearms confrontation and often either freezes and can't shoot or keeps pulling the trigger even after the gun is empty.

In general the secret service officers seem to be professionals who use the minimum force required rather than being trigger-happy. One hopes they learned a lesson after shooting and killing that mentally ill woman near the WH a few years ago.

Beat cops will "secure the area" as their suspect lay in the street bleeding out.

frequently the threat doesn't even seem to be much of a threat.

Frequently we see cases where some of us here would be willing to take the person down barehanded, rather than see him killed, and my point was that the city cops don't just shoot until the threat is ended, but they shoot until he is dead.

Was it a suicide by cop situation, or one of those "you wouldn't do anything, because I have rights" situations?
Seriously nuts.
