Islamic State Calls For Attacks On The West During Ramadan In Audio Message

Source: Reuters

A new message purporting to come from the spokesman of Islamic State calls on followers to launch attacks on the United States and Europe during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which begins in early June.

"Ramadan, the month of conquest and jihad. Get prepared, be ready ... to make it a month of calamity everywhere for the non-believers ... especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America," said the message, suggesting attacks on military and civilian targets.

The authenticity of the audio clip, purporting to be from Abu Muhammad al-Adnani and distributed on Saturday by Twitter accounts that usually publish Islamic State statements, could not be verified.

"The smallest action you do in their heartland is better and more enduring to us than what you would if you were with us. If one of you hoped to reach the Islamic State, we wish we were in your place to punish the Crusaders day and night," Adnani said.

All through history:

Islam, in the form of Ottoman ( 800 year long ) has been very tolerant.
It tolerated non-muslims. Maimonides thrives under muslims.

Our saving of Ramadi has nearly destroyed what used to be a city of about a million people. 858 strikes by us and our friends. Reconstruction is now questionable in some areas.

7. They asked for Ramadi to be destroyed?
Sun May 22, 2016, 11:11 AM

Really?

I thought they asked to be left alone in Ramadi and to be handed over other cities so they could rule them and obtain what they think of as proper submission to Allah by the inhabitants.

It's the same with anything else we disagree with. IS really wants the US to have the authority to look at private info on cell phones. They really want to have increased phone surveillance in the US. They don't like the absence of guards in public spaces in France. They want our air travel to be inconvenient.

So if they got those things they'd lay down their arms and go back to being unemployed and drinking coffee?

Or is it the case that we can't see past our overgrown toenails and somehow confuse having them rule over us and punish us if we don't go to Friday prayers, don't fast properly, don't keep our women in subjection, etc., etc., with minor inconveniences under self-rule?

More terror events could ensure a Hillary win. People love a hawk when they are afraid. Terrorism IS destroying our country from it's soul outward. So sad what we have become. I keep working for something better than hate and fear.

She thought she could ride into the rescue as the great interventionist savior, come to clean up all the chaos.

The trouble is, a lot of people blame her interventions as the cause of the chaos.

9. This year Ramadan occurs when the days are longest
Sun May 22, 2016, 11:36 AM

Muslims are required to fast throughout the daylight hours during Ramadan. But a restriction that's barely tolerable at Middle Eastern latitudes becomes a lot more difficult to deal with further north -- and almost impossible when Ramadan falls around the summer solstice.

Here's a chart of June sunrise and sunset times in Paris, as well as the onset of twilight by various definitions.
http://www.timeanddate.com/sun/france/paris?month=6

According to http://www.as-sidq.org/mosque/time.htm, leading Islamic organizations endorse the use of astronomical twilight, which marks the onset of complete darkness, though some apparently accept nautical twilight.

So if you look at that chart for Paris, when Ramadan starts on June 5, there is less than an hour and a half of full darkness -- and by June 12, there is no full darkness at all. Even by the looser definition of nautical twilight, darkness lasts for roughly four and a half hours.

Which is great for Nuit Debout, of course -- but maybe not so helpful if you're a would-be Islamic terrorist.

So, much eating at 9:31pm until the wee hours. Wolf down a quick breakfast at 3:45 and you're good for the day.

It can't be easy when Ramadan spans June 21.

Islamic State supporters expose their locations in Europe

Islamic State supporters in Europe may have given away their locations after a mass release of content of social media allowed analysts to geolocate them.

On Saturday, following the announcement that IS spokesperson Abu Muhammad al-Adnani would be releasing a new audio recording through IS’s Al-Furqan media organisation, thousands of IS supporters tried to build anticipation of the event.

Photos released on Twitter - using the Al-Furqan hashtag - and the messaging application Telegram showed supporters from countries including Germany, France and the UK holding up signs of support for the militant group.

Eliot Higgins, an analyst and founder of the open source data journalism site Bellingcat, asked his Twitter followers to help him geolocate the IS supporters based on the visual clues offered.
