A new poll shows that Donald Trump has vastly improved his support among voters since becoming the presumptive Republican nominee.
The Washington Post/ABC poll released Saturday night shows that Trump is now favored by 46 percent among registered voters, with Clinton at 44 percent.
That marks an eleven-point shift towards Trump since the same poll conducted in March. Clinton is down five points among registered voters while Trump is up six.
Forty-four percent of voters said they wanted a third-party candidate to run, but 51 percent said they were satisfied with the current field.

A few days ago, many dismissed the Fox News and Rasmussen polls putting Trump ahead, saying they were biased because they are right-wing. Now this.

(2,188 posts)1) I never heard of Breitbart and didn't even realize it wasn't from ABC or Washington Post until I was asked the source.
2) I could not find the same poll with the words "Trump leads" in the title from the other sources. The ABC site had the title as "A Post-Primary Rally Boosts Trump, Albeit With Challenges Aplenty (POLL)." Awful title and no one would click it, and DU rules are it must be word-for-word.

(5,902 posts)Not a Faux News or Breitbart poll (if the latter take any polls at all).
This one, moreover, is one of a long series of polls that show the same trend: that Ms. Inevitable becomes less and less electable as Election Day draws closer.
But fate can be kind, and it's very possible that a strong Gary Johnson candidacy might just give her the edge she needs to win in November.
For the country's sake it had better, since so many Democrats couldn't be counted on to make the intelligent choice themselves.

(51,771 posts)As many have pointed out to the OP, there are lots of other sources for the facts of the piece. The OP admits they chose this source because of the headline, which is a sensationalistic, Hillary-bashing headline. This OP is also in violation of the LBN rules that require mainstream news sources, and the TOS of this site that preclude using right wing sources as references.

(13,877 posts)And the fact that we All Know that the MSM is self-censored. So, we get to demonize any other form of intelligence...emphasis on intelligence...gathering by those not controlled by the MSM. If they are Right...well, you know. If they are Left, they are, well, you know.
We also are pretty sure they trumped up Trump...out of pretty thin air. They have little of my respect, to be sure...mostly lost after the trumped up war rhetoric. Many of these "insidious" sites were telling us that, but, well, you know.

You have to know that anybody on the Clinton side is going to dismiss it outright.
Why not just post the articles from either outlet who actually conducted the poll?

(2,188 posts)It's the same poll though. Whether it's Fox, Breitbart, NY Times, or whoever, it's not an opinion piece, it's just reporting on the actual poll.

(8,377 posts)This is insane. Here is a guy who has had every possible advantage from the rigged system. Yet the Clinton have so much baggage (and so little real connection with the average American) that there is a gigantic opening for Trump to exploit this.
Sanders has won most of the primaries and caucuses for the last couple of months, yet he has barely gained any in the delegate race. THIS is exactly the kind of rigged system that people are unhappy with. Americans sense that it just isn't right, and unfortunately, the kind of stupid campaign Hillary has decided to run has put her on the wrong side of the most important issue in 2016.
This really sucks.

(13,570 posts)Most polls right now don't mean diddly shit. She is fighting TWO fights now. She is attacking Trump good and hard. The real campaign hasn't even started yet.
In the primary, she has WON WAY MORE VOTES, MORE STATES, the BIG states, and with the FAIR proportional system she is WAY ahead and rightly so. So enough of the nonsensical conspiracies about a "rigged" system.

leaned Republicans who backed someone other than Trump for their partys nomination.
Remarkably, Clinton is only running evenly with Trump among 18- to 29-year-olds a key
Sanders support group thats looking ever-more resistant to her nomination. In March, Clinton
led Trump among under-30s by 39 percentage points, 64-25 percent. Today they split 45-42
percent. Its a group Barack Obama won by 23 points in 2012, and one that Clinton needs back

(51,771 posts)That and Trump's bump from securing the nomination and having the GOP finally stop the "anyone but Trump" efforts. Now, the only one going after Trump is Hillary. Bernie's certainly not going after Trump; he's too busy bad - mouthing Hillary and the Democratic Party.

(478 posts)There is plenty more out there if you are interested being honest with yourself and others.
From the NYT:
But the attack that received the most pop, on cable television and blogs, came after a photograph of Mr. Obama in ceremonial African garb appeared on the Drudge Report, and the items author, Matt Drudge, claimed that the image was provided by a Clinton staff member.
Mr. Obamas campaign manager, David Plouffe, said that the Clinton campaign had engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering weve seen from either party. It has not been independently verified that the photograph came from the Clinton campaign.
Politico - Aug '13:
But some of Clintons most memorable 08 shots at Obama have had resonance far beyond the short shelf life of the standard campaign hit parade: her mockery of his vow to transform Washington in his own image, her cry of elitism and her skepticism about his managerial chops echo today in the form of GOP attacks and the lingering doubts of some in his own party.
... But several more intrepid ex-aides pointed to one quote in particular: a Clinton broadside delivered in Toledo, Ohio, on Feb. 24, 2008, that represented her most stinging attack on Obamas core hope-and-change message.
I could stand up here and say: lets just get everybody together, lets get unified, Clinton said, voice dripping with contempt long since discarded.
The sky will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing, and everyone will know that we should do the right thing, and the world would be perfect, Clinton added. Maybe Ive just lived a little long, but I have no illusions about how hard this will be. You are not going to wave a magic wand
Huffington Post:
New York City, NY In the aftermath of the Pennsylvania Democratic primary [won narrowly by Hillary Clinton] a race in which Clinton had a 20-point lead only a few months ago the racism and hypocrisy of the Clinton campaign were laid bare for all a nation to scorn.
Desperate and willing to do anything to win, the Clintons resorted to a naked form of racism aimed directly at white working-class voters in the rural portions of the state. Their message: Barack Obama cannot win because hes black.
In the early stages of the campaign, it was Clintons cadre who kept playing the race card. In New Hampshire, Clintons co-chair, Billy Shaheen, accused Obama of being a drug dealer; then there was the photograph of Sen. Barack Obama in Somali garb leaked to the press by Clintons staff.
In the aftermath of the South Carolina primary, former President Bill Clinton compared Obamas victory to those of Jesse Jackson in 1984 and 1988. His message was clear: Obama was a marginal, black candidate.

(478 posts)Hillary's baggage is real and was not created by Bernie. Hillary had no compunctions about attacking Barack in 08 - why do you think different rules should apply to Bernie in '16? Here's more bashing by Hillary in 08 and then bashing Bernie for the position she backed in '08:
Then-Senator Hillary Clinton campaigns in Cincinnati, Ohio during the heated Democratic presidential primary. Clinton has ramped up her attacks on Bernie Sanders' plan for universal healthcare even though she herself supported in the 2008 primary and "shamed" Obama for envisioning anything less.
