Dems discuss dropping Wasserman Schultz

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Goblinmonger (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: The Hill

Democrats on Capitol Hill are discussing whether Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz should step down as Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman before the party’s national convention in July.

Democrats backing likely presidential nominee Hillary Clinton worry Wasserman Schultz has become too divisive a figure to unify the party in 2016, which they say is crucial to defeating presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in November.

“I don’t see how she can continue to the election. How can she open the convention? Sanders supporters would go nuts,” said the lawmaker, who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions.

There is no indication Wasserman Schultz, who is also a Florida congresswoman, has any plans to leave her post. And Senate sources stress that a final decision won’t be made until Clinton and Sanders negotiate some type of deal aimed at healing the party. President Obama, who selected Wasserman Schultz as chairwoman in 2011, is expected to play a major role in any such talks.

I hope that DWS can leave quietly for the good of the party. She has become a liability. Who knows what Shennanigans she has pulled or not, but the focus on her and this issue is not productive for the election. There is so much happening today that is shocking and the mind swirls. Let's hope this gets solved in a dignified manner and that we have a rational DNC leader that will carefully and ethically carry out their duties.

The power of Sanders voters is showing itself and we now have an opportunity to get some things done in this country that we have been dreaming about for decades....for the good of all. Working families have suffered enough. Let Debbie step down so we can focus on them.

The DNC chair is not in his area of control. It isn't in Clinton's either.

She is a failure at the job. She supports usury. She supports republicans. She shrinks the number Democrats in office. Can't we get someone competent without there being an attack on Sanders for it to happen?

She's being taken out early to appease the Sanders wing. Its not an attack on Sanders to suggest that since he's getting what he asked for that he make a concession too.

DWS has already said she is not interested in a third term. This will be her last.

Bernistas have made her into the enemy because they need a focus for their rage. She is just another bogeyman they created to excuse their own losses. Having her step down before the convention would create the kind of confusion they want in order to trash the convention.

Let's focus on Trump.

She is winning the popular vote and the delegate count. Bernie is the loser. He is the one who needs to leave. Losers usually leave graciously. He does not have a gracious bone in his body.

Bernie is a spoiler. If he was politically savvy, he would have shown it by now. He has done nothing in all his time in Congress. Trump would mop the floor with this unvetted, grumpy, unprepared curmudgeon.
