(58,724 posts)Remember when everyone thought the Republicans would have a brokered convention? And that every possible step will be taken to prevent him from getting the nomination?
This was just like a month or two ago.

(11,986 posts)But to your implied point, yeah, there will be controversy about it. The difference there being that no one is running against Trump, so there's no one interested in disputing it.

(5,082 posts)They are either ignorant or dishonest. Presumptive means nothing. Super delegates could switch if it looks like she could lose to Trump. That's the point of super delegates...to not select a loser. Hillary is dropping more each day.

(62,521 posts)I wrote it back then that he would go all the way because of the gross stupidity of this nation.
this is one of the few times, I'm sorry to be right.
but at the same time, I'm not the least surprised.

(62,521 posts)but I think you know whom I'm referring to: the mouth breathing right wing.
and give it time, they will all fall in line behind him.
Because that's what they do.

but instead of an actual on and off switch, it's a dimmer switch.
sometimes, it's bright, sometimes, it's dark, but most of the time, it's at a degree of dim.

(835 posts)The USA deserves this. There are people that have been just like him in public life for about 15 years now, since the advent of reality TV, and we made them rich. This is end. Trump represent everything vile about the USA, but if there wern't so many like him on the TV, he alone would just be a problem.

(1,150 posts)We have no monopoly on those - we all act stupidly from time to time, and it's part of being human.
Something like this requires the addition of other people willing to harness and build up the stupidity of others for their own gain, on a massive scale.
That's not exactly stupidity - it's pretty much the closest thing to real evil there is.

Yes, as some of the posters below have remarked, our increasingly debased popular culture has contributed to this nightmare of a candidate, but so has the last thirty-six years of GOP propaganda and policies. That, my dear fellow Duers, is how we have come to this.
I fear for our future.
