These CEOs Just Called Trump’s Bluff by Offering $20 Million for Sanders Debate

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by BooScout (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Tech industry investment firm Traction and Scale (T&S) wants to host the Sanders / Trump debate, and is willing to donate Donald Trump’s ransom of $10 million to charity in return. T&S CEO Richie Hecker told BuzzFeed News that he aims to host the debate in California on Monday, June 6, one day before California voters cast their ballots in the state’s primary, which is seen as Bernie Sanders’ last stand to remain competitive with Hillary Clinton.

Hecker laid out his vision for such a debate in a public statement to BuzzFeed News:

We would host the debate as a physical event and live stream it to the world. As a technology incubator and investment company, Traction and Scale builds transformative user experiences and will host the debate on our cutting-edge mobile technology. We have distribution to 250MM Americans on social media through this channel.

The problem with the 20 million dollars is that Trump will insist that he be able to vet the recipients. He will justify that demand by claiming that he cannot permit the possibility that some of the money might go to an organization that is pro-choice. And, if Trump has any control over the money, he will steal it and everyone else who had anything to do with this project, including Sanders, will be tarred with the theft.

Several months ago, Trump skipped a debate appearance and held a fundraiser for veterans. To this day, there has not been an accounting of what happened to that money. Trump is a con man and he cannot be trusted with money.

then the system and the people who represent it are corrupt to the bone.

One man isn't and he is the one the establishment is trying to prevent at all costs.

I have a tip, Diogenes. Bring your lantern to sunny California.

I agree... call whiny Trump's bluff and show what a disaster he would be (which we already know), but also, more importantly, show how great Bernie would be!

doing it that way would exclude a lot of people. I still have dial-up in Seattle (thank you Director's Rules), so it's not nearly as good as having a broadcast network with a much wider audience.

It's not about issues, it's about money. I think Bernie made his point by calling Trump's bluff. I think he should let it go at that.

inauthenticity. This time Trump...this is a scenario right out of his reality tv show...a major event to raise money for charity. And Trump backed down. He can't even do what he has his contestants do to finalize the deal, as he likes to say. There was another company yesterday offering 20 million to charity host it! I had a feeling there would be more. Bring em' on! With each one it's harder for Trump to listen to his handlers' advice and not debate the man who's already beating him in the general. There's a good chance his ego wins out and he does it

Platitudes, soft jabs masquerading as insults and self-congratulatory sarcasm. She could hit way harder but is too afraid given her own precarious position. Hopefully her gloves come off is she wins the primary and no more bullshiting. I'm sure Trump will push her on Bill and simply sayin not going there won't be enough.
