Police: 3 boys dead in north Phoenix; mom hospitalized with self-inflicted wounds
Source: AZCENTRAL
Three boys, ages 8, 5 and 2 months, were found stabbed to death at a north Phoenix home early Thursday. Their mother, a suspect in their murder, was hospitalized in critical condition with self-inflicted stab wounds, a Phoenix police spokesman said Thursday.
The older boys were found in a closet, and the infant was found in a suitcase, said Sgt. Trent Crump, Phoenix police spokesman.
The woman, who is 29, stabbed herself in the abdomen and the neck, Crump said.
The woman had grown up in Phoenix and had moved to Virginia in 2014, Crump said, and had moved back for the birth of the 2-month-old.

(714 posts)who want to... people that are distressed enough to kill their children and then try to kill themselves are often not able to see just how badly off they really are. And by moving from Virgina to Arizona, she probably didn't have a support network that would recognize that she needed help she was unable to seek for herself. Even if she had recognized that she was having warning signs, the stigma against mental health care in this country means that some people will never ever seek help, either to not appear crazy, or because they fear consequences such as having their children taken away, which of course is a huge trigger for postpartum depression.

(37,748 posts)Our righteous fury is often stronger than our rational response. First we must blame, regardless of our ignorance. Secondly, we must sentence, regardless of our passion. Then we must justify the first two, regardless of how irrational we appear.
We are in fact, infinite in our capacity to poorly mimic wisdom.
