LA times endorses Clinton in Dem primary

Source: hill

The Los Angeles Times, California's largest paper, has endorsed Hillary Clinton over Democratic rival Bernie Sanders with just a few days left before the state's primary.

The paper's editorial board gave Sanders credit for inspiring Democrats and Independents and pressing Clinton on economic policies, but ultimately said Clinton is better prepared for the job.

"Voters should choose the candidate they consider best qualified. This page has endorsed Clinton not because she is more likely to win the nomination but because she is vastly better prepared than Sanders for the presidency," the board wrote. "Clinton is not only more knowledgeable about domestic and international affairs than Sanders, but also more likely to achieve objectives they have in common."

The editorial praised Clinton's foreign policy speech in which she lambasted Donald Trump and said it was a reminder of her understanding of international affairs.

Under the current system, which needs to be changed, Democrats have no choice but to fight Republicans.

In the future, hopefully the system can be changed.

fully support changing it. Lip service is not enough.

Bernie Sanders is the only candidate giving campaign finance reform in the presidential election more than lip service.

I want to see a Democratic Party platform that includes reform of the campaign finance system in federal elections.

They've devolved into a rightwing rag -- conservative in editorial bent and ripping subscribers off with little content in the print edition and expensive as hell. My 93-year-old mother still reads it out of longtime habit, but I don't know anyone else who'd waste their money.

Like Hillary, it endorsed the Iraq War, and then refused to print the Downing Street Memo as prominently as it had printed its push for the Iraq War. That and a statement that it was going to print more right-wing letters to the editor as a matter of policy pushed me to cancel my subscription years ago.

It's a right-wing rag purposefully trying to push Los Angeles rightward. No go in my household. I care about people. The LA Times does not

There is a big difference between non-profit and for-profit corporations.

But for-profit news corporations do not have to be as right-wing as the LA Times is.
