Sen. Marco Rubio blocks confirmation of judge he recommended

Source: Miami Herald

After his failed run for the Republican presidential nomination, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio returned to Washington with a pledge to “finish strong” and complete his work in Congress.

But the Florida lawmaker, who is leaving Congress in early January, has conspicuously left undone one legislative item: clearing the way for the Senate confirmation hearing of Miami lawyer Mary Barzee Flores. She is a former state judge who was nominated by President Barack Obama to a vacancy on South Florida’s federal bench more than a year ago.

This past week, his office made it abundantly clear for the first time that Rubio — who along with Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson had recommended her for the judgeship — is blocking her nomination for reasons critics say boil down to “extreme political partisanship.”

Rubio’s office told the Miami Herald that he recently issued so-called blue slips triggering confirmation hearings for three Obama-nominated federal judges in Central and North Florida with Republican backgrounds. But the senator refuses to do the same for Barzee Flores, calling her the “wrong person” for the South Florida federal judgeship, without providing specific reasons about her legal credentials.

I'll be glad when the junior Senator from Florida becomes an ex-Senator.

throw up when called Little Marco "outstanding" on MSNBC, and the interviewer never challenged him on what made him "outstanding".

I hope this sniveling little weasel is never able to make a comeback, but you never know. He is only 45 years old, after all.

Right now, his prospects don't look too good. He has a few options but none of them are a slam dunk for him. He could break his promise and run for his senate seat again (he has until June 24 to register for the primary) but there's no guarantee he would win. He's not that popular in Florida anymore, has plenty of vulnerabilities that could be highlighted in a senate race, and running again after saying he wouldn't would make him look two-faced.

He could run for governor after Voldemort's term expires, but, again, his political capital isn't what it once was and victory would in no way be assured for him. I know the lazy little shit has no desire to be governor and would only run as a launching pad for another run for the presidency but, if he wins, he'd only be governor for a very short time before almost immediately running for president again. As unbelievable as it is, he'd be even less qualified in four years than he is now.

I just hope this arrogant punk is finished and I never have to hear from him again. Unfortunately, the pessimistic side of me thinks he'll somehow slime his way back onto the political scene.

Someone in DC will pay him hundreds of thousands to put his name on their letterhead while he figures out if he still has a way to Make America Suck Again.

Ya so far he has said he has no interest but I wouldnt be surprised to learn that he is in secret talks with some people who will run a fake "draft Rubio" campaign.
