(19,581 posts)Great news. The time has come to work together. Many of Bernie Sander's concerns should become part of the Democratic Plateform. And, many of his supporters are passionate and worked so hard. I applaud you all.

(15,366 posts)also - finally - acknowledged this clearly. http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results
Wow - 13 points with 93% of the vote in! Not even that close, after all!
Hillary won four of six contests last night and that firmly erases ANY chances of a Sanders comeback.
DC next week is literally a done deal for Hillary - not sure why Bernie insists on staying in these circumstances. But that is his choice - even if it does not, IMO, demonstrate good judgment.

(24,122 posts)President tRump would be the worst disaster this country has ever seen.
Go vote for Trump, he wants to bomb half the world, imprison his political opponents, and torture Ameriicans while he abolishes the minimum wage and the 40 hour work week and a woman's right to choose. In the mean time you could have voted for a candidate who stands with Bernie Sanders on about 97% of all the issue.
No two candidates in either party have been more similar policy wise than Clinton and Sanders. Even the areas they disagree with each other they are most of the time still on the same side of the issue just to different degrees.

(5,621 posts)the media took care of that. Do you think the AP winner announcement was a slip? For someone who only had a 3% recognition factor he did a hell of a job, even though the Democratic Party and the media worked against him. Hell, even Obama stepped in and suppressed the DOJ against her until after the election. He can't let the emails between them about the TPP get out. We are truly fucked.
For it to be even this close was a miracle. She has been known for 25 years and he only a year.

(9,274 posts)For an obscure senator and a part time Democrat, he did a hell of a job!
He only lost California by double digits. Even though he outspent Hillary on media buys there.

(5,621 posts)have said that the cards were stacked against Bernie from the start.
We now have 2 candidates that the majority of the people don't like and don't trust. What a wonderful country!

(2,897 posts)1)The polls factored in for a much much lower early voting margin. They all had Hillary at +10~+12, when in reality it was +25 or so. 2) Polling with regards to Hispanic and Asian American populations is still terrible (as it has always been)
Yes, turnout was probably down a bit, but that large early vote deficit put Bernie in a hole from the beginning.

(700 posts)Bernie only had a recognition factor of 3%. But he's been in Congress for years and years. My question - why isn't he better known? What has he been doing all those years NOT to be recognized by anyone? Nothing?

(63,185 posts)I'm very impressed by the class and graciousness I've seen from Sanders supporters in the past several hours. From the levels of vitriol on DU in recent months (from both sides!) I feared that there would be no hope of unity once the primaries had passed.
I'm grateful to have been mistaken, and I appreciate my fellow Dems' willingness to unite against a common opponent.

Some of we Clinton supporters actual like Bernie.
I do think we need our platform to be shaped a lot by Bernie then use it to beat the republicans into the ground!

(8,606 posts)I'm just glad she was as gracious in victory as she was in defeat in 2008. Ironically, her defeat in 2008 probably gave her her greatest ally and life long friend.

That said, I will vote for Hillary. There's really no other choice, progress is progress.

(10,418 posts)I've stayed out of the political discussions this primary season, but I was rooting for Bernie and I voted for him in my state's primary election. However, Hillary has my vote in November. My sig line says it all, I think. I don't see how sitting out the election or voting third party can help matters any, especially when the Republicans are running a goon like Trump.
mountain grammy
(26,607 posts)Of all the political disappointments and upheavals I've witnessed in my lifetime, this is pretty tame. I'm proud to be part of a party that gave America our first African American president and I'm proud we will elect our first female president. In fact, I would be thrilled if we doubled down and chose Warren for VP.
You were smart to stay out of the political discussions.

(2,897 posts)This was a late call, but I can understand the caution.
As soon as the early vote came in though, you could tell what type of night it was going to be. She was ahead in every poll and they had factored in a much lower early vote margin. The margin should close some with the late EV, but this shows how crucial early voting will be in November and why republicans are trying to cut down on the days.
Beacool
(30,247 posts)I actually thought that it was going to be closer, but she was far ahead from the very beginning and stayed there.

(23,081 posts)Damn, he is so good and would have made such a great president, but no, that's not going to happen.
I'll move to acceptance but not easily and not right now. Now, I'm just sad.
