Calls grow for probe into campaign donation Trump gave to Florida AG

Source: MSN/Orlando Sentinel

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Even as another Democratic state lawmaker called for an investigation of a campaign donation given by Donald Trump to Attorney General Pam Bondi, questions arose Wednesday about who would conduct such a probe.

* * *

Bondi's fellow Republicans control the Legislature and are unlikely to set up an independent panel to look into the matter. Gov. Rick Scott has referred reporters' questions to the Trump campaign.

There are few other avenues to investigate Florida's top law enforcement official.

The Trump campaign has said that his charity, the Trump Foundation, made a clerical error in giving $25,000 to And Justice for All, a Bondi political committee, on Sept. 17, 2013. That admission came after the Center for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed an IRS complaint against the foundation, since political donations by charities are prohibited.

13. Yep, but just a hair less obvious. Bondi dropped her inquiry into Trump U after the payment.

The Texas AG was not investigating Trump U at the time of his payment, as far as I know.

latest controversy in his inimitable fashion.

The misogyny and sexism are bound to reach disastrous levels similar to the racism in his last press outing.

Can't wait.

He won't want all that free time anymore and will have to pay for ads. Networks need the ad income.

6. He has already admitted to quid pro quo's in the past. What's so surprising about this?

How does a charity "accidentally" give $25,000 to a political campaign?

Bondi has been complicit with BP in the oil spill case on behalf of Florida taxpayers. All the other Gulf Coast AG's pretended to fight against BP before they went silent (presumably BP made some type of promise to buy their silence until the government cases were settled this year).

I hope they dig into her actions beyond this incident to see if she has a pattern of this!

Indeed. A question which should be posed to Mr. Trump.

7. "a clerical error" eh? Damn conveniently timed clerical error.

Word has it that Bondi himself asked Trump for the donation so how does a Trump Foundation clerk not know that they cannot just hand out money at the request of Trump? - Any foundation registered with the IRS has to have a very detailed procedure for how donations are made, and it does not include giving out money at the request of the person whose name happens to be on the foundation. This is a big deal and Trump himself is extremely exposed here, assuming that this is how it went down.

If he puts Pam Bondi on the ticket, Justice won't prosecute until next year.

11. From a charity is bad, but little difference

It's bad enough coming from a charity he manages, but the donation happened while the Trump University controversy. If the money was to influence the Trump U case, not good.
