Donald Trump suggests President Obama was involved with Orlando shooting

Source: Washington Post

Donald Trump seemed to repeatedly accuse President Obama on Monday of identifying with radicalized Muslims who have carried out terrorist attacks in the United States and being complicit in the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando over the weekend, the worst the country has ever seen.

"Look, we're led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind," Trump said in a lengthy interview on Fox News early Monday morning. "And the something else in mind -- you know, people can't believe it. People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can't even mention the words 'radical Islamic terrorism.' There's something going on. It's inconceivable. There's something going on."

In that same interview, Trump was asked to explain why he called for Obama to resign in light of the shooting and he answered, in part: "He doesn't get it or he gets it better than anybody understands -- it's one or the other and either one is unacceptable."

For months, Trump has slyly suggested that the president is not Christian and has questioned his compassion toward Muslims. Years ago, Trump was a major force in calls for the president to release his birth certificate and prove that he was born in the United States. On the campaign trail, Trump has repeatedly stated as fact conspiracy theories about the president, his rivals and Muslims, often refusing to back down from his assertions even when they are proven to be false.

It doesn't seem that Donald Trump is anywhere near desperation yet. Let me explain my thoughts.

His entire campaign has been based on his celebrity and because of his ignorance (of pretty much everything) he doesn't know what a national presidential campaign requires. Interestingly, his success in the Republican primary has confirmed in his mind that he knows how to run his campaign. It's positive reinforcement for negative actions. I believe he thinks he's doing very, very well. He certainly hasn't publicly expressed any kind of fear or concern.

From several different reports, it's becoming clear that Mr. Trump does not have the financing for his campaign in place. Further, it appears that his own liquid assets are limited as is his willingness to spend his own money. Most importantly, he doesn't have the national political infrastructure for the coming campaign; this take years to organize. Mr. Trump doesn't know what he doesn't know and his ego and psychopathy prevent him from developing the curiosity needed to learn. He isn't desperate because in his mind, he's doing great.

But he's delusional and lives in a self-imposed bubble of his own inevitability. His desperation will come once the fall campaigns are underway.

Not to mention, most 5 year olds are innocent and sweet and often may see things grownups miss because they have yet to "learn" many things that are not true. Then there is the normal curiosity to learn how things work and to expand their world. Trump has no interest in learning; no interest in questioning his odd belief system which revolves around believing in himself.

It seems like he got older and richer, but he is still the kid sent by his parents to military school - likely because they could not handle him and no longer wanted to try.

He is being manipulative and cynical to the extreme. Trump is being exploitive. He is trying to put the media focus on him, and the best way to get that attention, is stating something outrageous. It is a media stunt.

Whether it is Fox News, which isn't media, but a proxy for the Republican Party to other major media conglomerates, they need to step up, and do not have Trump on the air via phone, but in person or on camera.

He used the same tactics during the San Bernardino shootings, make an extreme remark that others won't state, demand an extreme measure, his reward was media attention, he controlled the narrative for the short term, and most importantly take away media oxygen to his primary opponents.

Trump is way too uncontrollable for their taste, besides Donald Trump is out for one person, Donald Trump. The NYT's recent article about Trump and his Casino business, shows a person who betrayed almost everyone he had a business relationship with, and was out only for himself. He had no qualms in enriching himself, knowing very well, he was ripping off others at his expense..

Trump is way too unpredictable for their taste..

Remember that President Obama has an above 50 percent approval rating -- and even among those who disapprove these insinuations go way too far.

Not to mention, an attack on the popular President, which will fail, makes him less creditable in attacking Clinton.

The contrast between the serious man who eloquently stood to lead the country in sorrow and this sputtering orange haired pretender spewing hate couldn't be sharper. I would say that Trump disqualified himself with his words, but that would imply that he had once been qualified -- and that was never true.

Trump is dangerous. However there is a very clear method to his madness. He states something to the nth degree, (Obama resigns, banned Muslims etc.) that puts all the media attention on him.

Clearly Trump is being disingenuous, perhaps a bit evil, cynical and frankly he doesn't care that 49-50 people were massacred by a troubled loner with easy access to an assault rifle and large enough quantity of ammunition to kill 49-50 people and severely injured over 50 more. Trump is using this to promote himself.. which is why he is working overtime to get as much media attention on this..

Say something outrageous or to the extreme, this gets media attention, puts the narrative and most importantly, air time and more media time for Trump.. Trump becomes the narrative, while sucking media attention/oxygen from others. It maybe outrageous, sickening, and many ways plain stupid, but it works. It is the ultimate in trolling, but sadly it works, because look how it is even put on this forum, to people to pay attention to it..

Ignore the message, and see that Trump uses this as a way to garner attention, get free media advertising, and control the narrative in the media.

if the killer's a Muslim, has a Muslim-sounding name, or maybe read an ISIS web page at one time in his life, it's all going to be the fault of weakling Obama and the pansy-ass Democrats. and this criticism, no matter how unfair or empty, will stick, and the trashy crap that passes for news media will go right along with it.

The perpetrators can purchase assault weapons and ammo at the drop of a hat. Even if they are on the no-fly list. And who refuses to pass meaningful gun safety legislation to remedy this? It is the GOP-led Congress, at the behest of the NRA. And which presidential candidate supports that position? We all that answer as well -- it is the one making wildly unfounded allegations about the current President. Projection, which amounts to pointing the finger at others for one's one shortcomings, deeds, actions, or inactions, requires a motivator in order to shift the blame. And does Congress ever have one these days. They will be getting an earful over this incident, as they should. One can only hope that this tragedy will be the final straw and that sane gun laws will ensue. Not holding my breath however.
