Trump says he's revoking press credentials for The Washington Post

Source: The Hill

Donald Trump on Monday said he is revoking the press credentials of The Washington Post, one of the nation’s largest newspapers, over its “dishonest reporting.”

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee made the announcement in a brief post on Facebook Monday afternoon.

"Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post,” Trump wrote.

In an earlier message, Trump slammed the Post for its coverage of his comments Monday morning about the mass shooting in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday. In those remarks, Trump questioned President Obama's committment to fighting Islamic terrorism.

I'd feel sorry for his staff, but they sooo deserve everything they get. And much more.

Thanks for the laugh, Night Watchman. I looked and this is the statement WaPo was reporting on:

“Look, we're led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind. And the something else in mind — you know, people can't believe it,” the Post quoted Trump as saying on Fox News Monday morning. “People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can't even mention the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.”

Trump, who called on Obama to resign for not using the term “radical Islam” in his address to the nation Sunday, explained to Fox News, “He doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anybody understands — it’s one or the other, and either one is unacceptable.”

Early in his presidency in 2009, President Obama did try to suspend Fox News from the Washington Press Core. However, Jake Tapper, who was with ABC at the time was not going to have it. So Tapper went screaming like a banshee all over the corporate media. He got the major conglomerates to issue the President an ultimatum. If Fox News had to go, they would no longer cover the White House. Too bad the President didn't take them up on it. Every time I see that smug mug of Tappper's, I get angry.

“It’s the FAILING Washington Post,” tweeted Dave Weigel, highlighting an adjective Trump frequently lobs at organizations he’s attacking. “Get it right!”

“He's just banning us till he can figure out what's going on,” Ben Terris tweeted, mocking the billionaire’s proposal to temporary ban Muslims from entering the country until the U.S. can figure out what’s going on. “RIP experiences like talking to Trump on the phone for 30 minutes about whether he cheated at golf,” Terris said in a follow-up.

Karen Tumulty joked that, if elected president, Trump would “build a wall around 13th and K Streets.

“Looks like the ban has been broadened to also include The Washington Post,” added Jose A. DelReal.

56. When Obama revoked Fox News ....
Tue Jun 14, 2016, 10:42 AM
Jun 2016

When Obama revoked the Fox News TV presence at one televised White House presidential press conference -- after some Really Vile provocation from that network, which had openly contributed money to the Republican campaign fund -- the rest of the White House press corps practically revolted and threatened to boycott future presidential press conferences unless Fox was restored. And so Fox was restored. And Fox didn't learn a lesson but Obama did.

Maybe the rest of the press bus should boycott Trump unless and until the WaPo is restored. Trump should learn, as every other candidate already does, that publicity is breath of life to a campaign. Let him suffocate for a few days without press coverage and see if he developes a learning curve.

Someone ELSE is being unfair to The Donald? His response is to throw a temper tantrum.

His supporters won't see that defining "unfair" is always up to The Donald and to his advantage. He signed the Pledge but wasn't going to support it if it was "unfair". Jude Curiel is being "unfair"...and so on and so on.
